Everyone deserves compassion through the challenges life brings. Whether you’re navigating anxiety and stress, relationship struggles, or feeling stuck and unsure of what’s next, I consider it a privilege to walk alongside you. I believe every life holds purpose, joy, and the potential for growth—and that hope is always possible. Together, we will explore what may be holding you back from experiencing life more fully and work collaboratively to develop practical tools and meaningful solutions. Therapy is hard work, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Life transitions, the demands of running a family, raising kids, a high pressure and stressful job, money concerns, and children’s needs can all erode the time and energy you have to put into your relationship. Life and relationships can be tough. What is needed to make it work often feels overwhelming, unclear, and giving up may seem like the only alternative. We need connection. We need love. We need a path. Without it, the inevitable challenges of life become incredibly difficult. But right now, you might not be thinking that.

I have been providing therapy in Montana for 35 years. I was Director of Services for the Mental Health Center in Choteau for 5 years before going into private practice in 1995. Practicing in a rural area is a lot like being a country "doc", you treat "everything that walks in the door". This has given me a wide range of experience with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, self-esteem issues, childhood abuse, domestic violence, behavior problems, and life transitions. I have a wholistic, eclectic approach fitting the therapy to the client rather than fitting the client to the therapy.

Life can be incredibly confusing, difficult, and overwhelming. There are so many issues, both in and out of our control, making life harder to handle. Negative thought/feeling patterns can change anyone's reactions and behaviors. This can make relationships and situations more challenging. I’ve lived my whole life in a family of first responders, public servants, and military and spent almost a decade working in mental health. There’s no conversation I’m afraid to broach, knowing the depth mental struggles can reach. Moving forward with therapy and taking responsibility for your health is an amazing first step.

I believe everyone, no matter what their past experience, has an inborn ability for healing. Some reactions we learn for survival can become problems later in life. I'll help you understand how your current challenges and symptoms relate to your mind and body's natural, protective wisdom and together we'll access that wisdom for healing. This biology-based approach sees you as someone worthy of support, yearning for wellness and capable of improvement, no matter your diagnosis. Skill building, trauma reprocessing, attachment focused support, education, parenting support and mindfulness are among the approaches we may use.

When a client comes to me, often they are overwhelmed with many emotions and do not know where to start. As we sit and talk, I learn about where these emotions are connected to. I talk about getting to the root of it where it is all connected so you can begin to heal layer by layer. We learn about nervous system calming, emotional regulation and resilience and tools that you can keep in your toolbox so that therapy does not have to be a lifelong commitment, but instead your own personal healing journey.

Helping thoughtful, self-aware people break out of exhausting emotional patterns. You might look like you’re functioning on the outside but inside, something feels off. You’re thoughtful, self-aware, and trying hard to understand yourself, but you keep ending up in the same patterns… and it’s exhausting. You question everything- your relationships, your choices, even who you are. Instead of finding clarity, you feel more overwhelmed and stuck. I help people who feel this way begin to understand why these patterns keep repeating - not just intellectually, but in a way that actually creates change.

Hi there, I'm Michael! I am Licensed in California and Montana. I typically focus on improving the client's life satisfaction through talk therapy. I am a retired military and prior law enforcement which has exposed me to a unique and diverse population of people, although my private practice is not limited to these communities. My approach, I have been told is "relaxed," "easy-going," with a sense of "curiosity," while being direct when the need arises. My first priority is to create a therapeutic relationship of honesty and trust.

You deserve to enjoy life, no matter what has happened, or is happening now. A lot of clients say they feel “stuck.” Others are grieving a loss, struggling with their partner or losing to anger. We can handle it all together. Your feeling safe, valued and un-judged is the foundation for our sessions. What matters the most is seeing and maintaining perspective. Laughing is more than laughs. Empathy is a two way street. We are starting a relationship. After 58 years of lived experience, 33 years of marriage, multiple careers, home towns and fluffy dogs like Lola in the photo, I am here to bring you success in therapy.

Life is rarely easy. Whether we thrive or feel defeated by life may depend upon the perspectives and skills that we bring to difficult situations. Relief from both emotional and physical pain can come with acceptance of those things that we cannot change in the present moment and from developing a set of attitudes and skills for changing our relationships to the things we cannot change while also allowing us to pursue valued goals and activities with a sense of commitment, satisfaction, purpose, confidence, and joy.

Each of us have deep-seeded value and deserve to be connected to our whole selves. Often, past experiences of trauma and suffering not only impact our beliefs, behaviors, and relationships, but disconnect us from ourselves. Discovering ourselves can be difficult, but it is an essential part of healing. Our capacity for growth and change is possible with understanding and compassion.

You’re thoughtful, capable, and deeply self-aware—yet parts of you seem to pull in different directions. As a high-achieving adult with ADHD (often late-diagnosed), you may understand your patterns but still feel internally divided: one part striving, another avoiding, another quietly doubting. You’re exhausted from managing yourself and want clarity, cohesion, and a way to move forward without fighting your own mind.
