Healing Happens. When we are stuck in our wounds, we may forget that we have the capacity to heal. In fact, we are meant to heal. Together, with kindness, compassion, and curiosity, we will work with your physiology, which gets altered when we live life or go thru rough patches. Tuning into the mind-body connection, we can learn what your spirit needs to heal. You deserve to feel healthy in life, whether you are experiencing a major trauma or seemingly simple everyday life problems. I am a Somatic Experiencing Pracitioner and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, both of which use the power of awareness to create health.

Much of the work I do is with couples who are struggling with communication, connection, healing after an affair, coping or growing apart. I also work with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief & addiction recovery. For many years of my career I worked as a family counselor in hospital alcohol / drug treatment centers. In 1994 I went back to school for a graduate degree in social work. Since then I have been working with individuals, couples and families. While the goal of counseling is to get out of counseling, I think it's very healthy to use counseling whenever it's needed throughout our lives.

My counseling practice focuses on making sense of anxiety; addiction; OCD; and the origins and consequences of trauma. Many of the clients with whom I work are adept at masking painful emotions; or they cope with stress in unhealthy ways. I treat individual adults from all walks of life. In addition; I work with military personnel; first responders; and others whose jobs require managing emergencies. Regardless of one's background; talking about problems with an objective outsider in a safe; welcoming; confidential setting can ease the pain and increase well-being.

You've done so much work to feel better and yet inside there’s exhaustion, loneliness, and the quiet ache of not feeling fully seen. You look around and feel alone. These are the hidden wounds of relational and developmental trauma — you've learned skills that once kept you safe and now these ways feel exhausting. You don’t have to carry it alone. My approach is relational, compassionate, and grounded in body-based trauma healing. Together, we’ll create a space where your story can unfold safely — at your pace — so you can begin to feel more connected, confident, and free.

You've spent a long time trying to hold everything together, and on the outside, people probably think you do. As a professional woman, entrepreneur, or leader, you’ve built businesses, led teams, and carried everyone else’s needs, but somewhere along the way, you lost touch with yourself. Inside, you’re tired. You’re overwhelmed. You’re questioning yourself more than you admit. Maybe you can’t remember the last time you felt settled, confident, or clear. You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy; you just need to be ready for something to change. It’s time to pause, listen to yourself, and reclaim your voice. I can help you.

Many of us seek therapy when something big has happened to us or when we finally have the time and energy to tackle those big things. It can be a vulnerable time and that shopping for a therapist is more difficult than it should be. I have walked alongside folks with big feelings, big impulses, and big stressors for years. I work with folks with Bipolar disorder, mood disorders (such as depression or intense anger), suicidal thoughts, step-parenting, and blended families. I have worked with many folks coming out of higher levels of care such as psychiatric hospitalization, IOP, PHP, residential, and wilderness therapy.

I work with college-age/young adults through adulthood on identity and attachment. I love supporting my clients expand their self-trust and feel more settled in themselves. Through connecting your experiences with where you are today, we collaborate to explore new relational/response patterns in areas you feel stuck in, build trust and confidence in your own decision-making, resolve sources of self-blame or criticism, and I'm just generally dedicated to new discoveries in your self-worth. As an adopted person, I am honored to be an adoptee-competent therapist, with strong therapeutic experience for ITC and transracial adoptees.

My joy and my passion are helping women discover how much is possible when they start loving and accepting themselves. When you love and accept yourself – light side/dark side – with all of your imperfections, that’s when things really start to move and shift. It is the key that opens the door to the wisdom and strength that is already inside of you. When you are disconnected from your love for yourself, life is scary. How will I cope? Or, avoid these uncomfortable feelings? Disconnection often shows up as anxiety, depression, anger, food issues, stress, people pleasing, etc. Are you ready to create some long lasting peace?

If life feels overwhelming, your emotions don’t make sense, or you keep doing things you swore you wouldn’t, that’s not a personal failure;, it’s a sign that something deeper needs attention. My style is warm, collaborative, and direct. I believe healing isn’t about “fixing” yourself, but getting to know your inner world with honesty, compassion, and accountability.
