Our clients often identify as LGBTQIAs2+ / Queer, Non-monogamous, sex positive or sex neutral, neurodivergence, and or disabled and living within Missouri or Kansas. However, identifying in these communities is not a requirement for services through AAC. Clients often start therapy to work on goals to learn more about identities, setting boundaries with others in their lives, opening up their relationship, learning more about themselves or others gender or sexual expression. Through individual, relationship, or family counseling we work to increase healthy communication based on our values, instead of assumed social norms.

I help people decidedly outside the mainstream, who aren't looking for a professional to fit them back into conformity. I work best with individuals and couples who already have some practice with self-reflection but you now need a fresh perspective and stronger support. Dr. Helen Friedman is a compassionate and interactive clinical psychologist with 10 years of additional formal training after her Ph.D. and 41 years in practice. Specialty areas are child sexual abuse (children, adults, victims and perpetrators), compulsive sexual behavior (including porn addiction and partners), dissociative identity disorder, and gender identity. Trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities (family systems, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, gestalt, etc.), she tailors her approach to the individual, couple, or family.

Kathryn Manley is a seasoned licensed mental health practitioner and licensed AASECT sex therapist. For over 20 years, she has helped individuals and couples navigate difficult issues relating to communication skills, sexuality, autonomy, and attachment. Kathryn understands the importance of having a safe and trustworthy clinician. Sex therapy can include the many physiological and emotional aspects of intimacy encountered during seasons of life including postpartum depression, differences in sexual desire, infidelity, betrayal trauma, erectile dysfunction, pain, sexless marriage and difficulty with orgasm.
