Sometimes we all feel lost. And yet, we all have an internal guidance system that can help us understand what's important in our lives and how to make choices. My job as a therapist is to help you strengthen that connection between you and your inner knowing. My role is to help you explore and understand yourself better, gently challenge when needed and give you feedback that may help you to find your way. My hope is that after each session, you feel that your needs have have been addressed and that you leave with questions to explore or tools to try out. Change can be difficult and it is my hope that I may support you through it.

It is my passion and honor to come alongside you in your healing journey. My specialities include working with empaths and codependents on self-care and creating healthy boundaries, stress relief, anxiety, life adjustments, grief/loss, weight issues, women's issues, and trauma. I am a Licensed Psychologist with over 20 years of experience. After many years of providing traditional talk therapy, I realized that true healing needed to incorporate both the mind AND the body. One method I use to help people reduce stress and regain balance in their lives is mindfulness meditation.

I believe the mind and body have an inherent ability to heal, but we often experience many variables that get in the way. I enjoy working with clients who have struggled to find success in improving their overall health & mental health, have experienced various forms of trauma, high stress and relationship issues. I work with individuals, couples and families ages 14+. Through various trainings, educational and professional experiences, therapy is uniquely tailored to the needs of my clients. Brainspotting, DBT, Prepare/enrich, Gottman and EMDR are examples of modalities that may be used to fit a client's specific needs and goals.

I am a clinically certified trauma professional as well as an LPCC and an LADC. I am able to help clients recognize and develop coping skills to help them manage their mental health symptoms and their chemical dependency issues. I am able to help clients recognize where their possible trauma has settled within their body. I assist clients in developing awareness of their minds and body and become more mindful of their whole sense of self. No one wants to suffer and if they are, I am able to help them identify what is causing their suffering and work through it or provide them with the tools to do so once they are on their own.

I have been in the Mental Health field for almost 20 years specializing in individual, children, families and couples therapy. Often people seek therapy when they feel stuck. Sometimes it takes a unbaised voice to put new persepctive into your thought process. Are you experiencing a change in career, a loss of a relationship, parenting difficulties, social anxiety or low self esteem? Do you overthink situations, feel misunderstood or judged? Have you even said, " I know why, but can't seem to change." Knowledge alone without application of daily skills cannot create lasting change.

I focus on WHOLE body wellness. If you've tried traditional therapy and it hasn't helped you in the way you'd like, or if you'd like a more holistic approach that includes the physical body in the healing of the emotional and mental body, I can help. I provide an inclusive environment that allows healing to take place on a variety of levels. Embodied counseling uses body practices intertwined with traditional talk therapy, weaving in research backed therapeutic yoga techniques such as breathwork, movement, and mindfulness to regulate the nervous system, process emotions, and assist you in healing depression, anxiety, and trauma.

As an expectant or new mom, do you find yourself more worried or unhappy than you anticipated? Maybe your partner has noticed it, too: You just haven't been yourself. Or, perhaps you have experienced an upsetting, difficult, or traumatic event. Maybe you find yourself asking, "Am I crazy? What is wrong with me?" You're worried that you will never feel like yourself again or that you will never recover from the trauma you experienced. You're not alone - it can get better.

I have found my passion in helping Millennial and Gen Z women who are dealing with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, and other life stressors. I create a non-judgmental space for my clients to show up just as they are. I believe in working collaboratively with clients using humor, validation, and empathy to build a solid connection which then allows for clients to feel safe enough to try explore societal norms and expectations that have prevented them from living their idealized life. In my experience I've found that when clients are able to try out new ways of being they can achieve the healing they've been desiring.

Life can be a wild ride with many ups and downs, causing additional stress and uncertain feelings. Maybe you are experiencing thoughts or feelings that you aren't quite sure what to do with, but they just don't feel "right". Or perhaps, you or a loved one experienced something a while back, maybe a few weeks ago or even several years ago, that might be influencing how you're doing today. I'd love to sit down with you and take a deeper look into who you are, what you are needing (whether you know it yet or not), and how I can help you get where you want to be.

Every person is different and has their own distinct challenges and their own story. That is why it is crucial to me that your care is specific to you and meets your individual needs. What holds you back from being comfortable in the uncomfortable? At times you may feel overwhelmed, anxious, relationships are not working, and that you cannot balance your feelings. Now is the time to find your own calm in a world that does not slow down. The ability to understand and find yourself, may lead you to face life with confidence.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
