The hardest step in change is asking someone for help. Therapy is a collaborative, coaching, and self-building journey where we work together to accomplish your desired goals. I enjoy working with men and women on depression, anxiety, men's issues, self-esteem, relationship challenges, obesity and weight loss, chronic pain, and long-term disabilities such as visual impairment.
I have been a social worker for over twenty years working in public mental health agencies with children, families and adults. I have been in private practice since 2012. I serve clients struggling with a broad range of life issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and recovery, co-occurring disorders, parenting and family support. My specialty populations include adolescents and adults.
I provide a caring, confidential, nonjudgemental environment for adolescents and adults to explore issues of disordered eating, depression and life transitions including divorce, death and grief. In addition to my counseling profession, I am also a Registered Dietitian (RD), with an increased focus on food being used to soothe emotions. My interest is to help individuals using a whole person approach with empirically supported treatments to reach increased health, well being and simply to live their best life. Together we will explore obstacles to making changes and motivation.
(Limited openings; weekends available). It can be difficult to find the right therapist. While I provide research-based psychotherapy, my approach is a bit more unique than other therapists; I implement humor and creativity, along with compassion and candidness, into each session while still meeting a client’s specific needs. My easygoing and laid back approach aligns with my target demographic of teens and young adults. Additionally, I also offer evaluations, assessments, and testing, including IQ, personality, and behavioral analysis, such as ADHD screening.
Everyone needs a little support from time to time. As we experience beautiful moments, we also experience setbacks and challenges in life. I will work with you to get through those challenges you may be facing in everyday life, as well as identify, understand, and change pattens of problematic thinking and behaving. It is important that I help you gain self-awareness to better understand how past experiences may be influencing current distress. With new understanding, you will be able to start moving forward and utilize practical strategies for improvement and growth.

We all face trials, setbacks and challenges in life. One of the biggest struggles we all face is having healthy relationships. In order to have healthy relationships, we need to communicate effectively, resolve conflict sand be willing to forgive when offended. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families as they navigate relationships. I also work with people who have anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addictions, marital issues, spiritual struggles, parenting, identity issues and stress. The goal for my clients is to find freedom, peace and balance in their lives
Our counseling exists to serve individuals and couples through professional counseling. Our counseling goal is to impact lives on a spiritual, emotional, and mental level. Counseling also involves the sharing of personal problems, concerns, and stories with a professional who is skilled at helping the client or clients come to a resolution or solution about their particular situation. The general goals for the client are that he or she can identify the issue(s), develop a plan of action, and then implement that plan to move forward and progress in spite of their spiritual, emotional and/or mental setbacks.
My approach to counseling is collaborative in nature. While I have training and experience with counseling modalities and mental health, you are the expert on your own life. By working together, I hope to help you achieve your goals and cultivate positive coping skills. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for creative self-exploration, to address particular diagnoses such as anxiety and depression, and to provide support in navigating difficult situations.
Therapy is hard, but it doesn't have to be terrible. My job is to make you feel confident with your decision to reach out for help while guiding you through your own personal growth and healing. Healing from trauma will be the hardest and most worthwhile decision of your life, and you do not have to go through it alone. I offer individual and family therapy for adolescents and adults in a LGBTQ+ open and affirming practice. Please reach out if you would like to connect about the therapy process.
Our world is a busy and complicated place, full of impersonal demands and unrealistic expectations. Living our lives on full display in the digital age can make it even more difficult to find true authenticity, peace and fulfillment. What we really need is the opportunity to pause and take a look at what we truly want for ourselves, and whether our energy and gifts are being used in pursuit of our purpose and passion. Counseling offers this opportunity for self-examination, along with the chance to expand coping skills, develop personal strengths, and solidify and repair relationships.

Are you feeling stuck, and unsure how to move forward? Whether it be one big event or many smaller things piling up over time, it can be hard trying to figure out where to start. Everyone could use some extra support from time to time, and it takes a lot of courage to take the first step and talking about the struggles in your life. My specialty is working with individuals and couples in creating a supportive environment to process troubling areas and provide opportunities to improve communication skills and achieve your goals. I look forward to working alongside you as you work to achieve your goals!
Therapy is one of the most invaluable experiences an individual can endure. My goal as a therapist is to create a warm, safe, and trusting environment for my clients. I use a holistic approach, specifically utilizing psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, somatic therapy, CBT, SFBT, and feminist theory. I believe the mind, body, and soul connection is vital in reaching our most authentic selves.
Opening up to another person can be tough and making the steps to start therapy can be difficult. Make the first step easier and schedule a free phone or in person fifteen-minute consultation. We all experience pain, and this can lead to suffering. We experience suffering when we react to pain, get stuck in unhelpful behaviors, thoughts, and emotions, and end up caught in a place we do not want to be. As a counselor I have had the honor of working with great individuals helping them help themselves work through pain and be able to discover and more deeply connect to what is important to them; living a life more fully.
I finished my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2019. I am working on my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through a CACREP-accredited program where I have gained theories and practical skills to assess and diagnose mental health disorders, provide evidence-based interventions, and empower people to live happier and healthier lives. I believe a counselor’s role is to help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil, seek to improve communication and coping skills, strengthen self-esteem, and promote behavior change and optimal mental health.
I employ a developmental perspective in counseling and enjoy working with clients to deepen their understanding of themselves. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ clients and enjoy supporting people in living their lives as their most authentic selves. I have worked with clients on issues related to anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, eating disorders, substance use, trauma, grief and loss, and other concerns. I endeavor to provide culturally-responsive services, focusing not only on you as an individual client, but the family, community, and broader systems in which we live.
