My approach to counseling is collaborative in nature. While I have training and experience with counseling modalities and mental health, you are the expert on your own life. By working together, I hope to help you achieve your goals and cultivate positive coping skills. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for creative self-exploration, to address particular diagnoses such as anxiety and depression, and to provide support in navigating difficult situations.
My goal is to help clients achieve improved functioning as quickly as possible. I believe the most powerful transformation comes from a combination of techniques to understand and reset non-adaptive patterns, including neurofeedback, other forms of biofeedback, such as heart rate variability, emotional freedom technique (EFT), and a personality assessment I use called the Enneagram, combined with behaviorally-based counseling, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The combination of these techniques provide the foundation for holistically examining issues that stand in the way of a fuller life.
I am a Solution Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist, which concentrates on problem solving rather than the situation itself. I create an environment that fosters the feeling that you have an advocate who helps you navigate through situations, which may be difficult. I love being a therapist and that comes through by demonstrating a genuine concern with the issues you bring forth. I am committed to engaging in meaningful dialogue with you in order to recognize and help foster an understanding of your struggles, needs, and personal goals. I will also strive to enable you to find strategies to cope with and resolve any issues.

For the past five years my focus has been on delivering evidenced-based family therapy to families within our communities. Within this time frame, I have worked with families and individuals to alleviate the various stressors that plague our lives on a daily basis. My focus revolves around empowering those I work with using a strength-based focus and addressing the individuals or families most pressing issues using a collaborative approach.
As a holistic-minded therapist who works with both individuals and couples, I see the counseling process as an opportunity to examine old ways of relating to oneself and explore new ways of interacting. I use a whole-body approach to guide clients in becoming more self-aware and finding the strength to initiate long-term positive change for themselves. With couples, my goal is to improve intimacy and commitment using a research-based approach that identifies your strengths, and models healthy relationship patterns. I will walk with you as we navigate creating new interactions and a happier, stronger partnership.

My passion for people has led me to many different experiences working with adults and children in the states and abroad. I particularly have focused my efforts on caregiver fatigue, co-morbid disorders, youth and young adults adjusting to disabilities, social skills building, autism, temporary family separation, infertility, divorce, anxiety, depression, and most recently complicated grief and loss.
We all experience stress, anxiety, frustration and other forms of emotional distress at one point or another in our lives. This distress may be caused by relationships, financial strain, loss, setbacks, or other life stressors that have us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. There are times when we are able to bounce back on our own. Then there are times when we could benefit from a little help. Seeking counseling services is not a sign of weakness, but an investment in your mental wellbeing.
Being content, comfortable, and at peace with oneself is something many, if not all, wish to feel and experience. As a therapist that has walked alongside the journeys of individuals from diverse walks of life, I seek to empower individuals to be curious about oneself in order to live a life that brings you closer to understanding your past and fears of the future in order to live a present self-life. For many years I have worked with diverse populations, spanning many different cultures and ethnicities. With Spanish being my native language, I have had the privilege of working with many individuals from Spanish speaking countries.
I approach therapy as a process of joining with my clients in dealing with difficult situations that they face. I will listen carefully and strive to provide an emotionally safe and nonjudgmental space to explore and work through your concerns. Experiencing a genuine connection in a relaxed atmosphere is an essential part of the therapy process. Whether you find yourself stuck in old patterns or life changes, I can provide support, discovery and insight that can help you move through painful issues to a life with more joy, meaning and peace.
At the heart of effective counseling is a connection between the counselor and client. I strive to build that connection with you by providing a safe and affirming space where you feel validated, empowered, and comfortable sharing your story during your healing journey. Whether you are experiencing daily life stressors, mood instability, or trauma, we can work together towards developing coping strategies, managing stress, and healing emotional wounds sustained over time.
I am passionate about empowering and supporting individuals and couples as they grow and change. I recognize my clients as experts on their own lives, and assist them as they learn to identify and leverage their strengths to move toward a healthier place. I have experience assisting with: anxiety, depression, issues that arise throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period, infertility & loss, parenting challenges, relationship conflict, navigating life changes, grief, attachment, non-binary, and transgender individuals. I have completed training in treating perinatal mood & anxiety disorders from Postpartum Support International.
I enjoy working with individuals of all different backgrounds, but with a particular interest in women's issues, addictions, and family conflict. As your psychologist, I will seek to understand the challenges that you face and I will join you in developing and implementing a plan for personal growth.
I am here to help you navigate difficult situations going on in your life. My goal is for you to feel safe and understood. I enjoy helping people from all backgrounds. My specialty areas include anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, chronic pain, adjustment, and stress management. I believe therapy should take place in a safe, supportive, empowering, and confidential environment. Clients are active in the process, exploring areas including feelings, beliefs, and behaviors while working through personal history and identifying aspects of their lives they wish to change.
I believe the human capacity for change and growth is incredible. Difficult experiences, negative environments, and challenging relationships can distort our connections with ourselves and others. These disconnections can create problems, and I see relationships as powerful change agents--particularly our relationship with ourselves. When clients are given the opportunity to feel heard and understood, healing and growth are possible. To do this, I believe it is vital for us to establish a strong relationship to support the change you would like to make. I provide culturally sensitive therapy to motivated individuals and couples.
Life sure can knock you down, sometimes seemingly out of nowhere. You might find yourself in a situation and don’t know where to go from here. If this feels relatable, connecting with a therapist can be incredibly effective with working through life circumstances when it seems hopeless for things to get better. I am a licensed clinical social worker who meets people where they are, while creating a judgement free space of total acceptance and compassion.
