Counseling is a journey that is often filled with self-discovery, new awareness, and difficult choices. Telling your story can bring relief and a new way of looking at the world, and more importantly, a new way of looking at your life. Looking at where you might want to go in your life, or how you want to have better control over your emotions, behaviors, and thoughts are the challenges I’ll help you discover and manage. I have been working in the mental health and substance abuse field for 30 years and bring a variety of therapy techniques, expertise, and life experience to my work with clients.
Everyone experiences suffering and emotional pain. It is my goal to work with you in a compassionate and understanding way so that you can move beyond suffering into a better and healthier life. My aim is to provide a safe, comfortable, accepting environment so that you can trust the process of counseling as well as my ability to hold your pain with you.
Some areas that have been my focus of practice are depression, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss. Those losses may include death of a parent, spouse or child as well as loss of a dream, job, or relationship. Additionally, I’ve worked with children and families. I’m culturally aware, LGBTQ allied, and holistically oriented.
