My father worked as a caseworker in New York and my mother is a registered nurse. Is it any wonder that I often attract caring clients seeking to balance stress (sometimes PTSD) as they strive to assist others. Many of my clients are caregivers- looking after family members, counselors, pastoral care workers, shamanic practitioners or healers. The rest tend to be people seeking tools to make sense out of their lives and their experiences. I provide a calm port in the storm of life. Care For The Caregiver is a place to receive support while learning to reach your goals.

It can be exhilarating and relieving to feel understood and find meaning in life's difficulties.
I have a practical approach and do insight and emotionally based psychotherapy. I like a variety of issues and personalities. My work frequently includes self-esteem and relationship issues, transitions, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders, gender and sexual issues, multicultural issues, acute and chronic trauma issues, and loss. I deeply value the therapeutic relationship and see it as the cornerstone to most of what happens in psychotherapy. I have a growth oriented rather than pathology based paradigm and I tend to really like and enjoy the people that I work with.

You're exhausted, disconnected, going through the motions. You give so much of yourself each and every day. For the most part you feel like you are managing through the daily stressors, but you aren't living with the vitality you had imagined for yourself. The constant stressors of life, work, parenting, and relationships have you feeling drained. You're burnt out. You want to reconnect with yourself, your vitality. You know that you can't make all your stressors disappear, but you know there is better way filled with more ease and gentle flow.

When you are not understanding each other & when you think your relationships are stuck or damaged, an objective & experienced family coach could help. If going to a family therapy office is any barrier, discreet video telecounseling sessions or phone calls from your home might be the solution to start to understand each other & rebuild your relationships stronger than ever. Individuals who are considering/ready to make personal changes will also find nonjudgmental coaching & support in clarifying & "operationalizing" their goals & understanding themselves better. I bring my therapist experience when older 'scars' are discovered.

If some part of your life feels inauthentic or suffocating, this can lead to depression, confusion, and anxiety.
I teach people how to build a strong sense of Self and use that powerful foundation to create the life they desire. To make it in this world, you may have invested in “being normal” or just "surviving" and, in that process, forgotten who you truly are. Many people who identify as highly sensitive, or neurodiverse find themselves in this situation, as well as people who have experienced trauma or significant change. Reconnecting with your authentic self allows you to: experience increased success & abundance, cultivate closer relationships, undam your creativity, and build resilience.

Making life easier and easier and making you more and more confident.
You wake up worrying about a million things. Most of them aren't going to happen. You logically know that, but it doesn't stop you from thinking about them. Which makes your worry feel even more ridiculous. You're so aware that you spend your time thinking about things that aren't real problems and are likely never going to happen. This awareness doesn't help. Because no matter how hard you try, you can't stop. You suspect something deeper is going on. But it's something you don't quite understand. It's clear you're not going to figure it out on your own. You need some help. Your life is passing you by.

I am passionate about coming into the Here and Now with clients and believe in the healing power of being witnessed with presence and loving kindness. Using mindfulness based practices I focus on supporting clients in addressing issues of depression, anxiety, and identity issues. In session I emphasize bringing the client’s attention out of thoughts/stories and into their present moment bodily experience with the understanding that more immediate change can occur this way. I enjoy experiencing the client and counselor relationship as a microcosm of the client’s greater relational life, and an opportunity to do deep healing.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
