Earning a doctorate has given me tools for facilitating a deeper connection with the individuals I work with. This includes the non-verbal communication that passes between us, allowing emotions and trauma to process through the body, and creating a non-judgmental space where you can explore your personal challenges with my support. The goal of working in this psychodynamic, explorative way is to create a deep level of healing and change, so you are able to move beyond the fear and resistance that may be holding you back. Please look at my website for more information about me: https://www.woodlandhillstherapy.net

When we are feeling down and in need of support, we all deserve someone to talk to about our experiences. Sometimes it's not easy to communicate with those we are closest to about what we are feeling. I'm here to support individuals and families in processing their emotions and life experiences in a supportive and constructive environment. My goal when working with families is often to bridge the communication gap between adults and children. Some areas I specializes in are disruptive behaviors, depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment and communication challenges. Please reach out for a consultation if ever you need support.

My initial approach is to create an open and comfortable atmosphere by using open ended questions, engaging, having the client share about what’s important in their lives, their culture, background, hobbies. From there, explore reasons for coming into therapy - longstanding struggles, more recent/situation, history of trauma, are we in a crisis and are there safety concerns. This helps gauge the treatment interventions. As a feedback-informed, goal-oriented therapist, I would use the cognitive behavioral skill of exploring thoughts and feelings and how those may shape unhealthy/unwanted beliefs about themselves or others.

Let's work together towards giving yourself permission to put YOU first and knowing what you bring into this world is enough. Are you feeling sad but you're too ashamed or embarrassed to tell anyone? Do you put on a smile when all you want to do is cry? I know exactly what you're feeling: overwhelmed, pressured, anxious, afraid of being judged that you "don't have your shit together". Upholding an unrealistic expectation of self and societal pressure of "keeping it all together" is exhausting! and I don't want you to continue this cycle... I hear you, I see you!

I'm interested in working with people who are seeking to make a change in their lives, as well as those who wish to understand more about themselves and explore new habits for longevity and happiness. Wherever you're at and whatever you need to talk about, my goal is to create a safe, empathic and understanding environment to have those conversations. There may be a specific area of your life that you are concerned with; be it work, romance/friendship, parenting, creative endeavors, or all the above. Perhaps there is something in your life that you feel is holding you back, such as an addiction, or a toxic relationship.

I focus on helping a wide range of people---children, adolescents, and adults. My adult patients typically come to me because of problems involving depression, anxiety, difficult relationships, and parenting issues. The children and adolescents I see typically have problems involving attention, depression, anxiety, oppositional behavior, and poor self esteem. These problems are often related to stress at home and at school. One of my specialties with youngsters is helping them cope with bullying (including cyber-bullying), harassment, and excessive social media use.

My goal as a licensed psychologist is to help individuals, couples, families, and groups find harmony between what they "think," how they "feel," and what they "do" as they work through multiple life challenges and demands. Since its beginning, the vision of my practice has focused on providing culturally-sensitive mental health services to diverse populations exhibiting a full range of difficulties and psychological disorders. This vision is launched from a cognitive-behavioral framework. My practice reflects the insight offered by Albert Einstein: "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." Hence, for change to happen, "thinking matters."

At the core of my practice lies a deep belief in the power of authentic connection and the transformative impact of therapy. Having personally experienced the benefits of therapy, I’m dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing space where clients can explore their inner worlds with honesty, compassion, and curiosity. For me, therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution- it's a collaborative and creative process where we work together to cultivate a life that is in alignment with what matters most to you.

My path into mental health was inspired by my desire to help others achieve a life of fulfillment and balance. I learned that sexuality, gender identity, self expression and relationship intelligence are importance concepts when identifying individual life satisfaction. These topics can often times be taboo to discuss in our society, leading to feelings of guilt/shame, increased isolation and loneliness. My goal is to normalize these conversations and therapy.

When your child struggles in school, it can be difficult to know where to get help. I love working with families to demystify their child's learning strengths and areas of need. I provide educational testing to examine possible learning disabilities and also work with children suspected of having attentional difficulties. If your child is struggling with time management, planning, and organizing, I would love to help them in these areas.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Woodland Hills?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
