If you're pregnant, just had a baby or have lost a pregnancy you may be overwhelmed, worried, sad, angry, frustrated or not like yourself. You might be having thoughts that feel scary to you. Look, no one expects to feel horrible during pregnancy or after having a baby, but a lot of moms and parents do. And sometimes your partner doesn't understand either, or everyone just expects you to be happy and grateful. That's too much pressure. No one chooses to feel terrible or overwhelmed, but lots of moms and parents do. I know how hard it can be and I know how to help.

I am a licensed doctor of clinical psychology (Ph.D. from USC), working in SCV for over 30 years. I love people and it has always been my dream to help them achieve the ability to handle their lives in the most satisfying way. We are all human. We all have our own struggles. We experience depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addictions, or simply difficult transitions in life. It is important to know that no one is forever "sick," no relationship ever "broken," or anyone for that matter who is beyond repair. Together, I will work with you (or your loved one) through the issues that have brought you into therapy.

Counseling doesn't have to be scary. Throughout our lives we all experience difficult situations that need a second set of eyes and ears to offer a different perspective. Since friends and family are unable to be objective, that is where the counselor's role comes into play. Whether you are having family conflict, relationship issues with your significant other, or just need someone to talk to because everything just seems to be falling apart, I am here for you.

It is my passion to help others live happier, calmer, and more fulfilling lives. Much of our inexplicable behavior and habits that hold us back are rooted in our genes, childhood, family dynamics, traumas, and circumstances. I help my clients to understand what holds them back and move through it. I help them to overcome difficult transitions and parenting challenges. I help them to improve their relationships, change negative lifestyle habits, reduce stress, improve confidence and self-esteem, uncover their passions, and eventually become true selves.

I want you to know what I already do -- you are enough. There is nothing broken about you. And looking for help (which you’re doing right now!) is evidence of your resilience. Accepting New Clients! -“Why do I still feel so stuck?” If you’ve been sober for any significant amount of time, you can probably relate. You did the work. Why is it still so difficult? We are promised, “just get clean and everything else will follow”. If only it were that simple. Sobriety gives you the necessary stability that allows strength and clarity to work on what really holds us back in life. Things like codependency, trauma, anxiety, depression, executive dysfunction... the list goes on and on. If you're stuck in the same patterns and struggling to figure out how to actually apply what you know, I'm your girl.

I believe that, at the unconscious level, each of us has a deep understanding of what our unique purpose is (i.e. a true sense of Self). However, through conditioning, life circumstances, cultural/societal expectations, and many other variables, there has grown a great disconnect between the way we are and who we truly want to be. In a safe, supportive and collaborative environment, I will help you navigate through this process of deeper self-understanding and reconnection in order to live a healthier, happier and more fulfilling life.

You have already taken an enormous step towards your healing by beginning to look for a therapist, so first take a moment to express gratitude for yourself. You want to feel at ease, liberated, seen, understood, connected to others, and comfortable taking up space. I can help! As a 2-SQT/LGBTQ+ Affirming, Anti-Racist, Trauma-Informed, Intersectional, and Liberation-Based therapist, I acknowledge that systemic harm, like white supremacy, generational trauma, and the violence and abuse that is perpetuated by trauma and oppression can have deep, lasting scars that that impact our relationships with ourselves and others.

Life today can be overwhelming, chaotic and confusing. The demands and pressures of everyday life can cause anxiety, self-doubt and sadness, which prevents you from living life to its fullest. Often, we repeat the same patterns we have learned from childhood. These feelings can cause distress and can impact our functioning as well as impair our relationships with ourselves and others.

We’re all a little flawed, and that’s okay: there’s beauty and depth in imperfection. To misquote Leonard Cohen, the cracks are how the light gets in. Problems arise, however, when we become burdened by these cracks. Our responses to suffering, and the ways we try to protect from pain, can leave us feeling stifled and trapped. Therapy can help us chip away at these accumulated layers, and begin to articulate new, more comfortable ways of being in the world. I specialize in working with individuals dealing with relationship issues, life-transitions, trauma, depression, anxiety, difficulties at school or work, and body-image issues.

I understand that finding a therapist can be extremely anxiety provoking and difficult. This is why I hope to provide my clients with a non-judgmental and supportive environment that facilitates their ability to address presenting issues or concerns. During our sessions together, I will be utilizing a psychodynamic framework that focuses on revealing the unconscious and reoccurring patterns that prevent one from moving forward. Most of the clients on my caseload are considered to be high functioning individuals with underline symptoms of depression, trauma, PTSD, grief/loss, anxiety, ect.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
