Therapists in Seattle, WA
I work predominantly from an interpersonal perspective, but incorporate ACT, psychodynamic, feminist multicultural, and other techniques as the needs of my clients require.
Updated 9/23/24: I have worked extensively with clients in various stages of life transition and mental health workers pursuing their own therapy. In therapy I strive to understand and clarify my clients' goals and help them work toward building insight around their concerns. You don't have to know exactly what your goals might be, and during our work you can always add or change goals. This is your treatment and my hope is that you take an active role in determining the direction and depth of the work that we do together. My hope is that we can end every session feeling that we have made progress.

Life can be isolating at times. This is especially true when you add in ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, chronic illness, and Queerness, cultural, and relationship issues. We hold so many identities and struggles that influence who we are and how we move through our place in the world. It is essential to find yourself among those identities and move into the whole version of yourself that finds comfort in the here and now. This includes finding your community and support through all that life throws at us.

My work draws from attachment, narrative, and feminist approaches, and I am committed to the belief that you already have within you the knowledge and strength you need to move towards a greater sense of freedom in your life.
Society, family, culture, and other systems often send us mixed messages about how we should move in the world, creating dissonance and internal conflict. At times, we may lose sight of what we want for ourselves in the midst of competing voices and priorities that pull for our attention. I strive to create a safe space and work collaboratively with clients to step into the driver’s seat in discovering and reaching their own goals. Through shared exploration, we can clarify your understanding of yourself, your identity, and your story, and foster greater self-compassion and confidence to carry you through life's challenges.

I take a holistic and collaborative approach to therapy that is informed by intersectional feminist, person-centered, LGBTQIA+ affirming, weight-neutral, and fat-positive perspectives.
Many people seek therapy when they feel disconnected from themselves, their story, their body, or their community. As a therapist, I understand that being human can be complex, challenging, and even messy. However, it can also be beautiful and delightful, especially when on a healing journey. My goal as a therapist is to help my clients connect with their innate ability to heal and grow. I believe that my clients are the experts in their own lives and experiences, and my role is to support and empower them throughout the process.

I specialize in providing compassionate and effective psychotherapy with a focus on relationships, sex, and intimacy. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I'm here to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can openly express yourself. By combining Developmental Model techniques with a personalized approach, I can help you navigate the complexities of relationships and intimacy both individually and relationally. Feminist Therapists
How does feminist therapy work?
Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.
What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?
Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.
How long does feminist therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
Does feminist therapy work?
As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
