My intention as a therapist is to provide a safe and comfortable space to support your journey of healing and self-discovery. I believe that the therapeutic relationship works best when it is built on a foundation of trust and authenticity, providing an ideal environment to explore emotions, create strategies to manage life's stressors, and to enhance your overall health and wellbeing. I view each individual through a holistic lens, combining mindfulness-based techniques, a person-centered approach, and believe in the mind-body connection. Yoga can also be added to sessions as a way to process emotions and to address self-care.

We all have a story to tell. We are made of thousands of them. Therapy can offer a fresh perspective through a clear lens. It can help wipe the fog off your glasses with the help of an objective outlook. You may feel like you are seeing Signs. Or hearing Sirens. Maybe from a direct big-T-Trauma, or the discreet little-t traumas that cause nagging stress. Maybe challenges are manifesting subtly throughout the fabric of your relationships. Whatever it is, you don't need to manage Your Story alone. You are worth it.

You wonder what happened - the two of you planned a wonderful life together, but you're feeling confused and disconnected. You know that you love one another. You tried to bridge the gap but your efforts seem to fall through the cracks. You would like to be able to show your care and appreciation without feeling rejected. You want to feel that you can communicate your needs and wants and love well without causing a fight.

Therapy is a journey towards self-discovery, empowerment, and balance. Do you ever feel that you may be getting in the way of yourself in your efforts to live a rich and fulfilling life? Maybe you feel unmotivated or disconnected from a sense of joy. Life can be stressful with unexpected changes, relationship struggles, grief and loss, life transitions, sexual identity issues, social struggles, and current or previous trauma disrupting your day-to-day functioning. This often creates an out-of-control feeling with your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors.

Are you a neurodivergent woman who feels like you’re living in a world that wasn’t made for you? The parts about yourself that you love—your interest in new hobbies, your tendency to daydream—make you feel like you don’t quite belong. You often feel bored, distracted, and disconnected from others, often analyzing social situations to try and pinpoint where you went wrong. You spend so much time masking your ADHD or autism that you’re not entirely sure who you really are anymore. You want to find a way to go through life that doesn’t force you to change, but instead celebrates the real, authentic version of you.

My approach to therapy is psychodynamic with a touch of humanistic theories such as emotion-focused, feminist, and narrative.
You may be here experiencing emotional pain, feeling stuck, sadness, fear, or generally unheard or not understood. You may have experienced different kinds of loss or trauma but have never had space granted to hold or process it. Perhaps you’re looking to more fully understand who you are and dive deeper into why, or just a space to unload daily stresses. Shame and guilt can show up in our lives in ways we sometimes don’t quite understand. While I do work with many populations, I find I work well with women and LGBTQIA+ folx who have endured, searching for someone to truly listen, hear, and empower to live with authenticity.

I use an integrated approach rooted in feminist theory, and that focuses on how trauma currently shows up in our lives.
Hello! Throughout my ten years in the mental health field, I have worked in settings that range from inpatient to outpatient, as well as school and mobile. My clients represent all stages across the lifespan. My passion is helping clients to address a variety of needs, many of which stem from prior traumatic or dysfunctional patterns, as well as to help them find a more fulfilling balance. I often see clients suffer from imposter and/or Wonder Woman syndrome, frequently manifesting as suicidal ideation, depression, and/or anxiety.

My approach is eclectic, collaborative, and utilizes CBT, mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief (SFBT), Feminist theory, and occasional Dialectics (DBT) to understand clients’ challenges and worldview.
When managing the day to day struggles, it may be hard to identify when something is wrong. At times, it can be even harder to ask for help. The step to reach out to a therapist is tough, so recognize your strength in this moment. Collaboratively, we can navigate the hurdles of your past, the difficulties of today, the worries impacting your future, and locate a community to support your overall well-being.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
