Many of us embark on a family building journey and do not anticipate challenges. This new and unexpected life stage can lead to feelings of anger, frustration, confusion, and more. The roller coaster of hope and despair during multiple fertility treatment cycles can also feel overwhelming and isolating. You may even find yourself dedicating all of your free time to fertility-related tasks and conversations, which can result in burnout. If your experience with treatment has become all-consuming, then I’m here to offer you support. In our work together, we’ll focus on restoring balance in your life while you move forward.

I provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy, psychoeducational classes and workshops, and psychological testing and consultation.
I believe we all have struggles to overcome throughout our lifetimes. If you are finding yourself in a challenging spot, whether that may include life transitions, loss, or emotional or physical difficulties, you may feel stuck. My goal is to help those with whom I work harness their inner strength and resources while learning new skills to get through whatever life may throw their way. As Thich Nhat Hanh, the Zen Buddhist spiritual leader, has said, "No mud, no lotus." I believe we can grow and blossom with the right support, no matter how dark things may seem.

I also support people who are undergoing other major life transitions, including career exploration and unexpected family changes.
With all the uncertainty and complexity of life, it’s no wonder so many of us feel overwhelmed. You may wonder if another way of life is even possible?! I’m here to tell you it is. I believe that change is born from direct experience. Even though we can have new insights from friends or books, it is only the beginning of the road. A good therapist will help you access new insights and understanding, new parts of yourself, that can bring you closer to the life you want to live.

Some changes can be more difficult than others to cope with and I would love to help you and your family as you navigate your new path.
Life is constantly presenting us with change. Just when we might feel like we know what the day will bring, there might be something around the corner that takes us by surprise; maybe even something that has been there that we didn't even notice before! With change, comes thoughts and feelings we might not be ready to have, such anxiety, sadness, and fear. Coping with these changes can be difficult at times and we might need a little support. One of these unexpected events might be the diagnosis of a developmental delay, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder.

At Campbell Teen & Family Therapy, our staff members are like minded and believe that supporting a teen sometimes takes a village.
Isolation is hard. Being a Teen is hard. School pressure to perform well is high. Liking your body often seems impossible. Socializing has challenges. Past bullying can be traumatic. Do you want to learn knew coping skills? Do you need to heal from past events that are painful? Do you want to reduce your stress? Parenting a teen is hard, there is no manual and not as much parent contact as in elementary school. Getting enough self care as a parent can seem impossible but it is necessary, especially in the time of the COVID crisis. Telehealth is available!

I have assisted individuals in overcoming issues that are connected to trauma, grief & loss, depression, general anxiety, social anxiety, new to parenthood, pre-marital issues, juvenile justice systems, oppositional teens, suicidal ideation and marital and family conflicts.
As a person of color born and raised in the Bay Area, I truly believe in my task and role as a therapist to reach those who feel as though their story is unheard and invalidated by the world we currently live in. My strengths as a therapist consist of gaining over nine years of experience working in the field of mental health as a mental health clinician under the non-profit realm and private practice within Santa Clara County. Over the course of my experience I have built skills in providing therapy to socioeconomically diverse families, children, individuals, couples, and those who identify with the LGBTQIA population.

I also understand the complexity of navigating cultural challenges within relationships with family.
As parents, many of us suffer from loneliness and disconnection - from ourselves and our communities. It seems nobody can understand our obsession with sleep schedules, our worries about how we feed our babies or our approach to how we discipline our kids on the playground. Our decisions might draw negative comments and judgement - sometimes even from our loved ones. So, it seems easier to put yourself on the back burner or to do all things yourself so you don't have to ruffle feathers. But, tending to your needs without judgement and caring for yourself is integral to creating and sustaining a healthy, joyful family system.

I love helping clients to explore generational patterns to allow for them to build dreamed legacies in their family trees.
As a resilient survivor of decades of trauma, I am passionate about serving children, adolescence, adults, and their families to promote healing from physical, emotional, sexual, intergenerational, and racial traumas. With 19 years serving populations with varying neurodiversities (ADHD, ASD, developmental delays), mental health struggles, and marginalized communities with complex traumas (e.g., substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual trauma, oppression), I am dedicated to empowering others to access their most authentic selves and journeying alongside people as they create a purposeful life that is meaningful for them.

I would be honored to join your or your family's journey.
Have you ever wondered, "why did I just do that?" or felt conflicted with different sides of yourself? Have you ever felt completely confused why others seem to live easy lives and you don't? We can work together to understand what's important to you and how you want to live your best life. I offer a safe space for people of all ages (3-103!) to be understood and cared for without judgement or pressure. Sometimes this is working through stress within a family and it's affect on family members. Sometimes this work looks like learning new ways to cope with anxiety or improve how we talk to ourselves.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
