When was the last time things at home were peaceful?
Family therapy
can be a good option when things have gone off course.
I focus on working with infants, children, teens, and families. Using a strength-based, solution-focused approach, and CBT, I work on issues occurring both in school and at home. I believe that by working through life's everyday ups and downs it is possible for everyone to feel good about being themselves. One of my hopes is that clients leave my office feeling better than they did when they walked in. One of my passions is supporting people to have a good day. I enjoy helping clients highlight strengths and build upon them in the therapeutic setting. We can work together to do more of what works, and less of what doesn't.

I provide Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy or explore
family

Mental wellness and physical wellness can either help or hinder the other. Behavioral treatments significantly improve both mental and physical outcomes, but we know it's easier said than done. I take a primarily cognitive-behavioral approach, which has the strongest evidence base and research backing, to most problem areas impacting your wellness. CBT techniques effectively change your life in the here-and-now, but careful consideration of your values show us what changes to make and how. We will explore your values and goals together; I have not climbed your mountain, but as I climb mine I’m driven to help you summit yours.

Some changes can be more difficult than others to cope with and I would love to help you and your

Life is constantly presenting us with change. Just when we might feel like we know what the day will bring, there might be something around the corner that takes us by surprise; maybe even something that has been there that we didn't even notice before! With change, comes thoughts and feelings we might not be ready to have, such anxiety, sadness, and fear. Coping with these changes can be difficult at times and we might need a little support. One of these unexpected events might be the diagnosis of a developmental delay, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder.

For 10+ yrs I have provided mental health services and coaching to diverse populations w/ focus on mood disorders, adjustment,
family
, relationships, POC, disordered eating, and performance psychology.
Hello there! Something I know for sure is life can be wonderful and life can be difficult. By taking care of our mental health, we are better able to mange the ups, downs and turns in life and improve our functioning and life satisfaction. While there are a variety of approaches and interventions used in therapy, clients have shared what they appreciate most about working with me is my "realness" and genuineness; relatability (we are all cultural beings with emotions, thoughts and experiences); knowledge and experience; empathic directness; balance of support and challenge; calming presence; and humor (as appropriate of course!).

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
