Between sessions, you’ll practice simple acceptance tools to keep momentum.
You’re the one who “has it together”—career on track, friends think you’re fine—yet your body still launches into panic at the smallest trigger. Nights are restless; memories loop like a stuck soundtrack. You’ve read the self-help books, practiced mindfulness, and still feel hijacked by anxiety or old trauma. You want relief that lasts, clarity that’s more than “coping,” and the freedom to enjoy the life you’ve built instead of white-knuckling through it.

My clinical work draws from a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Existential Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), Interpersonal Neurobiology, Psychodynamic Theory, and Jungian perspectives.
Life can be overwhelming, painful, and uncertain—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. My name is Max, and I would be honored to walk alongside you on your healing journey. My goal is to offer compassion in moments of suffering, support self-discovery during times of confusion, and help cultivate the motivation to live a life aligned with your values and sense of fulfillment. As an undergraduate, I provided affirming care for LGBTQ+ students through the Sac State Pride Center. There, I counseled peers facing the challenges of young adulthood—interpersonal conflict, emotional regulation, identity development, and life transitions.

I have training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, Clinical Hypnosis, and earned a Certificate in Complex Trauma and Dissociation from ISSTD.
I work with people who are struggling, and decide take the courageous step to ask for help. Many have a history of trauma and suffer from anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, parenting challenges, sleep issues, sexual difficulties, chronic pain, relationship problems, and other post-traumatic responses. Also, present-day situations in our personal or collective worlds can be objectively hard to bear. Our experiences leave traces psychologically and somatically, so I use evidence-based, body-oriented, mindfulness techniques to address limiting patterns so that you can live more authentically today's challenging world.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
