As a therapist, I work collaboratively with clients to treat and manage their mental health issues. Due to the nature of our practice, I work with a wide range of clients negotiating unique life challenges. I provide individual psychotherapy, family therapy, psychological assessments, and evaluations for schools. Clients that seek treatment are generally managing symptoms from depression, anxiety, trauma, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or stress related issues.

I bring genuineness, compassion, and unconditional acceptance into my work with children, adolescence, and adults. I am a relational, collaborative, and person-centered therapist. I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, values driven work, Adlerian psychotherapy, and play therapy interventions to help my clients facilitate meaningful growth and change.

I have over 25 years experience treating adults, families, adolescents, and couples. I specialize in depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and psychotic disorders. I am a published author who has presented my research on group psychotherapy nationally and internationally. I am also a licensed massage therapist who practices mind/body work. As a past board member with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and a past member of APA's Task force on severe mental illness, I am an advocate for individuals and families who struggle with the stigma associated with these disorders. I have professional experience working with individuals in early adolescence through adulthood and in a variety of settings, ranging from wilderness therapy, therapeutic day schools (middle and high schools), community mental health and private practice. Working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate a time of life with many new transitions, life events, and a period of discovery is what I am passionate about. I work to help clients separate their sense of themselves from negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, in addition to teaching them positive coping strategies to promote change.

My entire therapeutic practice is based on three words: I believe you. How often in life (both past and present) have individuals struggled with someone believing them? How easy it is to be judged and misunderstood. A lack of being believed, coupled with being both judged and misunderstood are often what create low self-esteem, depression, trauma, fear and anxiety: all of which can affect relationships, friendships, family life, work, school etc. With support, change and healing are realistic possibilities.
