Rick Simon, MEd, LCPC, Counselor in Evanston
I specialize in helping children and adolescents overcome social, emotional, behavioral, and classroom difficulties. I also counsel parents seeking new ways to help their children, strengthen their family relationships, and diminish their stress. I am experienced in working with young people to resolve problems that include ADHD, anger, anxiety, depression, frequent conflict, emotional dysregulation, and adjustment to life-changing events such as adoption, death, or divorce. My goal is to help children and parents address their concerns in ways that lead them to cope more skillfully, relate more positively, and live more fully. Counseling sessions may include individuals, dyads, or families.
Much of my practice is focused on helping children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I work with them to diminish ADHD's negative impact on their learning, behavior, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. I also work with parents to identify effective techniques for helping their ADHD kids at home.
I believe in the innate resilience of young people. I believe in the commitment of parents to the wellbeing of their children. And I believe in the power of counseling to help families access their inner strengths, solve their most unsettling problems, and change their lives for the better.
