I am one of the few clinicians in the US with dual training as a psychiatrist and clinical psychologist with extensive training and work experience at Emory, Baylor, Menninger Clinic, and Mayo Clinic. I focus on understanding my patients' struggles beyond diagnostic labels. I identify as a trauma-informed therapist. I understand how traumatic experiences deeply impact one's psyche and the disruptive effect these have on one's life trajectory . We strive to provide Arizona with the quality of care we would expect for our own family who were in need of treatment. We feel strongly that the path to mental health does not start by identifying an individual diagnosis, but rather a comprehensive evaluation of the individual as a person. I am empathetic and highly skilled at treating individuals with substance use disorders and behavioral addictions such as gambling, sex and eating disorders. I understand the prevalence of trauma, mood, and anxiety disorders in patients recovering from substance and/or behavioral addictions, thus I accept patients with dual or multiple diagnoses. Of specific interest to me is working with licensed professionals who have addiction treatment needs. I provide education, intervention, assessment, treatment support, monitoring, and/or relapse prevention to professionals whose licensing and/or ability to practice is at stake.

I am a board cert psychiatrist w/ 27 yrs of experience, incl: 3 yr residency in internal medicine (board cert, 2000) and exposure to alt approaches/diverse populations (Native American, holistic eating disorder facility, students, inner-city crisis work) who loves to learn/listen (courses: EMDR-basic, dissoc, addictions, personality, chronic illness, attachment; DBT; CBT; mindfulness, lifestyle, communication, evid-based non-pharm). I apply all of this when I assess and assist you to capitalize on strengths, gain resilience, dive deep into psyche/your past/struggles, process trauma, learn skills, broaden perspective and agency.

Accepting new patients age 6 and older. Dr. Yue Zong is a board certified adult, pediatric, and integrative psychiatrist. She is a Tucson native and lifelong Wildcat. Dr. Zong completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Arizona. Along with psychiatry residency and child and adolescent fellowship, Dr. Zong gained additional training at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Zong's expertise allows her to fuse alternative, complementary, and nonpharmacologic options with evidence-based treatment. You will be in careful and capable hands when working with Dr. Zong.

I am a Harvard-trained relational psychiatrist with 29 years' experience with psychopharmacology and insight-oriented psychotherapy. While medication can alleviate symptoms, they cannot resolve psychological pain. Nor can someone be known and understood in a 15 minute appointment. Sustained recovery takes time and occurs within a caring relationship. A psychiatrist must be fully present and authentic for patients to have reason to trust. I believe in empowering clients with education and mindfulness of their emotions, vulnerabilities and needs. Only then can symptom relief, peace of mind and JOY be fully achievable.

Dr. Kurtz is a compassionate & empathetic Integrative Psychiatrist specializing in treating adults experiencing a variety of psychiatric symptoms. Stemming from her osteopathic medical training, she focuses treatment on the whole person - mind, body & spirit. After her psychiatry residency she completed a fellowship in integrative psychiatry & additional training in nutritional psychiatry. She has a passion for working alongside patients to address root causes of mental health symptoms through the skillful combination of traditional and advancing biomedical treatments with alternative modalities.
