Sometimes life becomes overwhelming in ways that feel impossible to manage alone. Even the strongest and most capable people can find themselves struggling when circumstances exceed their usual coping resources. Seeking support is a thoughtful and proactive step toward regaining balance and clarity. Understanding your unique psychological, emotional, and relational context is the foundation of effective treatment. Therapy is collaborative, respectful, and tailored to your individual needs and goals. I work with adults, couples, adolescents, & children, including parenting support for adult children.

I help children, teens, and young adults build confidence, calm, and resilience. Anxiety can show up in many ways, worry, perfectionism, fear of failure, or avoidance, especially in school, sports, or social situations. Using CBT and mindset coaching, I guide clients to understand their anxiety, build coping tools, and feel more in control. My approach is supportive, laid-back, and down-to-earth. Whether your child is struggling with general anxiety, performance pressure, ADHD, or food allergy fears, I offer a safe space for growth, no pressure, just progress.

Accepting new clients! I primarily work with cIients who have experienced trauma (from childhood or recent events) and those who are impacted by poor regulation (being unable to modulate mood or attention). Trauma and dysregulation can result in being overwhelmed by big feelings or from sensory information, embarrassed by one’s own reactive behaviour, unable to think or remember, feel a lack of control over direction in life, or unable to adjust to life changes. It happens to people of all ages. The people I see usually say they want to heal from past events, or to sharpen the way their brain works.

Are you struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma or fears? Are you finding it difficult to cope with your day-to-day challenges; struggling with large life changes or decisions; or feeling stress related to serious medical issues or chronic pain? Do you feel that your current life difficulties are due to early life trauma? You may know that you are a Spiritual being having a human experience, but that human experience can be very difficult. I believe that we are each a whole mind, body and spirit, and that as we become consciously aware of our thoughts and feelings and their origins, these become more peaceful.

As a mom of two young daughters and two step-kids who are now young adults, I’m no stranger to the joys and challenges of blended families, parenting, relationships and life transitions. I have also endured significant losses and struggles along the way. These life experiences have shaped the person I am today and have given me empathy, resilience and insight that I believe help me to help others. I’ve seen first-hand how important counselling and therapy can be in helping people to cope with difficult circumstances, ultimately enabling them to return to a productive and satisfying life.

Are you intelligent, "type-A", with a million things always on the go? On the outside you appear to have "made it", but on the inside your anxiety is crippling. You wonder if you have ADHD, you're working on 100 things at once, never seeming to be able to slow down until you crash (and then beat yourself up for resting). You start to wonder if you're depressed. Why does it feel like you're on such a roller coaster of emotions? You've tried journaling, meditating, maybe even medication or therapy, but you still feel stuck. You know you need to "love yourself", but you don't know how to actually DO that.

When life feels like it revolves around the past, the painful memories, shame, anxiety, or emotional reactions that seem to come out of nowhere, it can start to feel like nothing we try really helps. We can feel stuck, isolated, and exhausted. If you're here, a part of you probably wants something better. Maybe you want to find some calm, live a fuller life, and get "unstuck". That's my goal for you, too. I'm here to help you move from surviving to feeling present, finding meaning, joy, and calm. While I help men and women working through a wide range of issues, I specialize in Trauma and PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, and BPD.

My practice consists of two main areas, psychotherapy and school psychology. With children, adolescents, and adults, I can work on issues like reducing anxious and depressive symptoms, or enhancing overall well-being. I can also help people who are struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder or who need help regulating their attention and hyperactivity. With children and adolescents, I can conduct comprehensive psychoeducational assessments to try to figure out if they have a learning, attention, and/or intellectual disability.

You might long for closeness but find it hard to trust or communicate without conflict. In life sometimes we experience "tower" moments. The moment everything feels like it is crumbling down right in front of you. Maybe you have recently experienced heartbreak or loss, maybe you are feeling unfulfilled in your career, or relationships. It feels like everything is happening outside of your control and you are trying your best to hold it all together. You might be feeling anxious, defeated, vulnerable and stuck. There is a part of you that wants to make sense of it all, find direction, and pick up the pieces to start living life on your terms, again.

Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, it’s never enough? You may look like you have it all together on the outside, but inside, you feel weighed down by self-doubt, painful memories, or a sense of failure. Past experiences may continue to haunt you, leaving you struggling to enjoy the present. Living with trauma, grief, or chronic pain can make it hard to feel truly happy or at peace, even when you think you “should.” If you’ve tried to push the past aside but find it still impacting your daily life, you don’t have to face it alone.

You love each other, but it’s getting harder to stay connected. Maybe you're dealing with resentment that no one talks about, miscommunications that turn into arguments, or silence that feels heavier than words. Add the complexity of chronic illness & it can feel like you're in survival mode. Managing symptoms, appointments, & emotions while your relationship quietly starts to fade into the background. You’re not just navigating daily stress. You’re trying to maintain intimacy, balance caregiving roles, and figure out how to be a partner when one or both of you feel depleted. Maybe you’re grieving the relationship you used to have.

Something happened — and talk therapy didn't get to it. You've tried to understand it, process it, maybe even explain it away. But the anxiety, the reactions, the weight of it? Still there. If you're ready to work at the level where trauma actually lives — in the body and the nervous system — I can help. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and an EMDR Consultants in Canada, which means I train other therapists in this approach. I offer EMDR Intensives (concentrated, multi-hour sessions), Group EMDR Therapy, and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) — all somatic, brain-based approaches that work beyond what words alone can reach.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
