I work at CWM Counseling in Platteville, Wisconsin. My education includes a BS in Psychology from the University of Illinois, a M.S.Ed. in Counselor Education at Northern Illinois University and a MA in Psychology from National Louis University. I have experience working in the community college setting as well as in substance abuse agencies. I have worked with people aged 16-70. I enjoy helping my clients to find their way through difficult situations.

Hi! I am Timothy R. Foster, MA, LPC in WI & MN. My style of therapy is unique. It is designed to engage the full person and to integrate our past, present, and future experiences into a congruent and comprehensive image of our true selves. Life is difficult. It just is. Learning to accept our emotional experiences honestly and non-judgementally can be hard. But this is where I truly believe healing is created. I work well with clients who like to ask tough questions and are willing to be open with their experiences with me. I will provide a direct and compassionate approach. I am passionate about what I do. Helping people take control of their lives, especially their emotions, is what I do best. I like to help people learn to be “un-upset about upsetting things!” I work best with problems of anxiety, depression, relationship issues but I'm also quite experience and capable of helping clients reduce stress both personal and work related, and have significant experience helping client with PTSD.

At 68 years of age, I recognize how difficult life can be. As humans, we all struggle from time to time and need someone who can help us navigate our journey through life. As a therapist, I offer my clients a chance to enter into a caring, respectful, non-judgmental relationship that offers hope for healing. I utilize research based science, philosophy and creative expression to help clients examine their life, create strategies for change and ultimately, move forward in their life.

It is common to feel trapped by our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and we often struggle to identify the impact they have on our well-being until it feels too overwhelming to handle. This is particularly true for those suffering from OCD behaviors. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their thoughts and behaviors to better understand the impact they have on their well-being. I work collaboratively with clients to establish a plan of care that draws from evidence-based approaches. My role as a counselor is to be a partner in helping clients move through, not around, concerns in their way.

I can help you come up with strategies and tools for anxiety, grief, depression and relationship issues. I specialize in ADHD and Autism needs. I respect you for who you are and support your growing and changing. You may be a therapist yourself, or have done a lot of therapy already - and need to find a safer space to process your feelings. I work with cultural grief and cultural awareness. I work with medical trauma, relationship challenges, and deep grief / frustration/ loneliness/anxiety/CPTSD. I’m trained in individual and relationship counseling, and am also a sex therapist, if that topic needs to be discussed.
