I have experience working in a variety of clinical settings treating both mental health and addiction issues simultaneously or separately. I offer court-ordered alcohol and drug assessments, DOT assessments as a certified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), as well as attorney-ordered assessments. What makes my approach unique, is my ability to adapt treatment to fit your specific needs thereby making a complicated process a little more manageable. When a problem is viewed in a way never considered before, is the beginning point for effective and meaningful therapy.
Addiction treatment, much like mental health counseling, can best be addressed from a multi-disciplinary approach practicing the latest in evidence-based therapy interventions. This allows me to provide treatment in a manner that is most effective for my clients on an individual basis. Each person has their own unique way to succeed at recovery.
I have conducted specialized research and presented on current trends related to addiction and chronic pain. My research has led me to the belief that substance abuse is not the primary problem, but instead a way to postpone dealing with primary problem(s). Counseling is an opportunity to confront the real issues and no longer need avoidance mechanisms.
