My name is Mekenzie (she/her), and I am a Health at Every Size® and fat-positive therapist and Certified Nutritionist. Like many in this field, my call to this work came from my own long journey with mental health, body, and food, and the life-saving discovery of the fat-positive world, Intuitive Eating, Body Trust®, and social justice/anti-racism/anti-colonialism work that helped me realize my body was not the problem. The process of seeking and making the decision to come to therapy can be a challenging one. The state of the world today presents unique challenges for each of us. Not Taking Any Clients, And Waitlist is Closed At This Time. Feelings of depression, anxiety and loneliness can stem from a multitude of experiences. These can include those who have experienced trauma; or, someone who is Neurodiverse and is attempting to navigate their life and understand who they are in this world. Sometimes the depression and anxiety are absolutely crippling, to the point where it feels like there is just no way out. Or, you may be a parent with a child who is just struggling and you feel like you have tried everything possible, to help and understand your child but it seems like nothing has worked.

Collaboration and problem solving are my specialties. Difficult feelings and moods make everything that we do more challenging--they keep us alone and afraid and hopeless. Do you find that you are good at "faking it" but if people really knew what was going on, you worry that they wouldn't stick around? You desperately want to get back to what you used to have. Just having a feeling of "being on the right track" would feel so good.

Part of being alive is facing challenges, but often when challenges come we begin to think we are doing something wrong. I believe support, compassion, and help from someone who hears and understands can help with hard times. As a client-focused, strength based, brief therapist I believe clients lead the way. It is my privilege to help you move towards your goals through self awareness and skills-based guidance. A person is much more than a diagnosis and at times labels can get in the way. Changes that match who a person is and where they are in their life lead to success. What we create together should be manageable so that "better" continues after our relationship ends.

I've had the privilege of being a mental health therapist for 11+ years in community mental health. I have experience working with a wide range of ages from 2 to 68 y/o in individual, family, group, & couples therapy. I use various approaches based on the unique needs of each individual & I enjoy working with people who experience a variety of symptoms, diagnoses, etc. My primary therapeutic approach is EMDR. I provide a non-judgmental environment for many different types of people & lifestyles. I also believe that it's incredibly important to love & accept yourself, regardless of where you are in the journey of self-improvement.

I believe that therapy is a place where you work through difficult issues with another individual, a counselor. The therapeutic relationship is different from relationships with friends and other natural supports. The counselor assists you in developing your own strength and wisdom that is within yourself.
