My goal is to work with individuals, couples, and families to find a better quality of life with less stress and worry, and more relief and peace. I work with families moving through crisis and change whether that be divorce, the blending of families, mental illness, transition, grief, or finding their passion for what they want to do and who they want to be.

These settings have given me the experience needed to work with children, adolescents, and adults that are experiencing depression, anxiety, low self esteem, burnout and self-harm or suicidal ideation.
Do anxious and depressive thoughts interfere with yours or your child's daily life? Does lack of boundaries contribute to feelings of burnout? Feeling this way can impact how we feel about ourselves and how we navigate our daily life. Let's overcome those feelings while changing your internal dialogue to increase self-esteem, boundaries, and reaching goals to live your life in a way that feels authentic for you. My goal is to create a space where you can come to share those feelings freely and at your own pace, with some gentle guidance and humor to help the process.

Are you struggling to escape a painful or abusive past? Do relationship strains affect you dearly? "Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence." - Peter Levine. Identifying as a person of color and an immigrant who has experienced my own share of mental health and trauma struggles, I value the importance of a non-judgmental, safe space in order to identify that you are more than your past traumatic experiences. I have a deeper commitment towards the person as a whole, rather than just addressing the symptoms. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and graduated from my MSW program by January 2020.

You want to appear more outgoing, productive, and like you are “on top of things” but deep down you are struggling to cope with anxiety and low self-esteem. You're someone who enjoys your alone time but still finds yourself wanting to be active and feel included. You want to feel less exhausted and find that too many things going on at once can leave you feeling frazzled. You also may struggle with overanalyzing a past conversation you had or maybe you feel self-critical. You're ready to start feeling some relief, hope, and happiness again. Most of all, you are ready to feel less anxious and stressed. I want to help you get there!

Men, I know counseling is the last thing you thought you’d be considering, but you know something has to change. You've always been known to have the answers to your problems. One way or another you find a way to get it done. That’s what your family and friends have always looked up to you for! Ambitious, brave, and hard working are words that best describe you. You’ve taken pride in achieving your life goals on your own, but lately it’s hard to ignore how difficult everything is. You carry on avoiding thinking that you can get through this alone, but your family is feeling the distance and they know things aren’t right.

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.`` - Khalil Gibran My ideal clients are willing to look at the somatic elements of who they are, become more mindful of their internal sensations and return to the present moment. They'll begin to understand that change can happen, that they can become unstuck, and find healing and growth. "The greatest thing then, in all education, is to make our nervous system our ally as opposed to our enemy." - William James

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
