I understand that while each person has intense personal and individual experiences, each person is also deeply connected to other people and cultures.

My passion stems from wanting to help others. It is my personal belief that everyone has a story and everyone has the capacity for change. Together, we can work on constructing that person’s narrative.

I am interested in the human existence, and how everyone has a unique experience. I am interested in stories people tell themselves and others.

Mental health has a stigma. It implies that someone who is struggling needs help from a therapist just to return back to their baseline. At Mental Fitness, however, we want to help you achieve more than that. We do this by challenging our clients to remove self-limiting beliefs, master their emotions, and improve their relationships. Beyond just listening and validating, we offer guidance and structure to inspire you to achieve your best self. The fundamental skill that I share with psychotherapy clients is to listen deeply to their life experiences. From there, I use questions carefully to clarify my understanding of where they are in life. I work to help people understand that they are not broken or defective. As Carl Rogers said "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." I accompany clients on a journey of self-exploration, and evolution. A more satisfying life is achieved via greater psychological skill and creating healthier behaviors. I specialize in working with people suffering from Childhood PTSD & narcissistic abuse.

I believe that true mastery of ourselves is within each and every one of us. Each person is unique and this means they have something to offer the world. Sometimes it is a matter of getting out of your own way to see just how unique you really are. I have many years of experience working with people with a wide range of challenges. We will collaboratively work to utilize your strengths and enhance your coping skills. I work with each individual in addressing their primary challenges by constructing an individual goal plan that is in accordance with conquering your biggest challenges and becoming the best version of yourself.

My ideal client is one with motivation for self-care, openness to change, and a desire to learn more about themselves and others. My ideal population consists of adults with a mental health diagnosis of anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use disorder, and other increasingly complex diagnoses. However, I am also devoted to assisting those seeking help without a defined diagnosis and who are beginning therapy without a clear vision of treatment needs. I welcome working with anyone who may benefit from my skillset who is dealing with life’s many challenges and searching for a clearer definition and understanding of their stressors.

People are people. I have worked with different groups of people for over 20 years and have come to realize that most people want the same things. They want to feel safe. They want to be happy. And they want the people they care about to be safe and happy too. The question is why so many people struggle to actually achieve this? I think for most people the answer is that they 1. aren't sure about what they want and how to get it and/or 2. they have thinking errors that get in the way of them making the progress they would like.

Vulnerability. It's a word that sounds all motivating and "Hell yeah!" when Brene Brown talks about it, but when it comes to actually DOING it, it terrifies you. In order to get to the root of what's causing your discomfort, I'm going to ask you to get vulnerable. I'm going to ask you to share your story (no, the real story) with me. But you don't have to do it alone. I want to help you move from SURVIVING to THRIVING. I want you to FINALLY start living the life you've imagined. It doesn't have to be "someday". It can be now.
