I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor with 15 years of experience working with individuals struggling with substance use, addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, career challenges and self-esteem. I am passionate about working with adults, & adolescents struggling with conflict that arises from alcohol and drug abuse, addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma and toxic family relationships. I also work with professionals in the aviation industry, first responders, active duty military, and veterans. I am a Licensed Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Counselor with experience with all types of substance abuse. My experience is rooted in personal experience as I am in recovery myself, clinical experience, and Master's level education. I believe addicts of all kinds are good people with a bad disease that can live a life in recovery full of happiness, peace, and contentment. I can tailor a program to fit the individual and family. Families can be an important part of long-term recovery and I try to involve the family whenever possible. For appropriate clients, I offer a 6-month outpatient program.

My goal as a therapist is to understand where you are in life and work to overcome the difficulties you are facing. I believe that the most important thing I can do as a therapist is to provide unconditional positive regard and a non-judgemental attitude, as well as research-based treatment. However, I also believe that Christ is the ultimate and true healer. While we can affect emotional, cognitive and behavioral changes, I believe that long-term health and healing is ultimately found at the foot of the Cross. Therefore, my preference is to take a more holistic approach addressing the body, soul and spirit.

I use an integrated approach to create a team with my client to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. I help my clients assess the psychological, social factors that may be contributing to the problem presented. As a team, my clients and I work towards identifying the changes that they feel are needed to make to improve their life or situation. I also encourage family involvement in treatment to ensure that everyone has an understanding of what is going on with the situation and to provide support. I find most cases brief therapy is able to help people deal effectively with difficult situations.

Trying to recover from addiction or mental illness on your own is tremendously difficult. This is true for not only the one with the disorder, but for each family member who may feel desperate for change. You probably feel like you have exhausted yourself trying to recover or to help someone recover, but no positive change seems to last.
