I offer an existential, holistic approach to self growth and healing. I partner with clients to identifiy and correct the maladaptive coping strategies, behavior patterns and belief systems that keeps them stuck. EMDR is a theraputeutic intervention I often employ to address grief and trauma. This treatment method is effective in trauma symptom reduction, as well as the adoption of healthier belief systems, sense of self and world view. My style of therapy not only includes the focus on the behavioral, or even the physical rewiring of the brain; but also encourages finding the meaning behind the pain and embracing the spiritual self

Do you feel stuck in the same cycle? Feel like you are doing the same thing over and over again? Do you struggle with feeling motivated to complete your daily tasks, or maybe worry too much about things you can't control. Do others express concerns that you are drinking too much or worried about your substance use? Have you noticed that some days just feel too hard? I want to help. Sometimes in mental health we get so caught up in labels when all we want is to feel better. We want to be happy or have some hope or just not be angry. I want to help you meet these goals and exceed them to change your life to want you want it to be.

The clients that I have worked with have a variety of issues they bring into services including anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting issues, relationship issues, communication struggles, ADHD, issues at school, self-harm and SI. They want to learn the tools to address their struggles in a realistic and achievable way.

I work with clients struggling with a variety of issues, including Anxiety/Panic, ADHD, Depression, Grief, Life Transitions, Chronic Pain, Mood Disturbance, Self-Care, and many more. However, I am currently only accepting adults with ADHD or suspected ADHD as new clients. Therapy tends to work best when a client provides as much information as possible, is open and honest, and puts in the effort and work necessary to improve upon their life.

Sometimes life doesn't turn out how we thought. Ok... maybe most times. When you realize you are spending too many days unfulfilled, anxious, depressed-it might be time to try a different strategy. I have been told my therapeutic style is "kicking ass with love"- and I would agree. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for people to do really great, really hard work. My areas of passion and expertise are working with women struggling with depression, anxiety, chronic pain and trauma. Or just struggling with life in general. You don't need to start therapy having any answers, you just need to start.

Reality Therapy

Is reality therapy evidence-based?

Reality therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapies. However, some research does indicate that reality therapy might be helpful for people with addiction, and may be effective in treating social anxiety in young people.

How long does reality therapy last?

Reality therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Reality therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of reality therapy long after treatment has ended.

Does reality therapy work?

Reality therapy can help a person manage concerns such as eating disorders, addiction, substance use, anxiety, phobias, and relationship difficulties. This type of therapy encourages a person to be accountable for their behaviors. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure. Reality therapy can be useful in one-on-one therapy or in group sessions. This method may be used with children, families, and adults.

What are the limitations of reality therapy?

This therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the therapist focuses on choices made by the individual in the present day. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over others. This format may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every client.
