It can be exceptionally difficult to go through daily life, and I've found that to be true for most (if not all) people I know and love. There are so many difficult things that can pile up on one another, making it complicated to maintain relationships, wellness, work, and other things you might value. Sometimes it's hard to "ask for what you need" because sometimes we have no idea! I'm here to help even when that question feels hard to answer, and our work can start with exploring goals you have for yourself. The resiliency I see in clients is awe-inspiring and beautiful, and I offer several approaches to help them get there.

I believe that we are all capable of growth and healing. We sometimes just need some extra help and support along the way, as I do not believe we are supposed to go through life alone. That is where I come in. I walk alongside you as you uncover, discover, and explore areas in need of healing, growth, or change. I will utilize your own personal strengths to help you set, pursue, and accomplish goals. You and I will, collaboratively, come up with strategies that best suit your life and situations and I will be there to support and encourage you as you navigate through what life may bring.

Accepting new virtual clients! My name is Mirrah and I am a therapist and mindset coach. I became a therapist to put happiness and positivity back into the world by guiding individuals to find their light and inspire others to do the same. I work with clients who experience depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and self-image issues. I specialize in working with athletes and have worked with individuals across the lifespan (16-65+ years old). I help clients identify the origin of their dysfunctional behavior, heal from their past trauma, find their voice, and unashamedly live as their true self.

My greatest pleasure is in seeing the people I work with grow, develop new skills, and make choices that bring more joy into their lives and into the lives of their families. I consult with parents to improve discipline and strengthen the parent-child relationship. I also specialize in working with adolescents who are trying to navigate the social and academic pressures that come with secondary school, often working with parents and their teens to foster better communication and trust.

Being stressed may feel normal, but it doesn't have to continue. Your days are full, you are tired, and taking care of yourself comes in last place on your to-do list. From the outside looking in you appear driven, responsible, and confident, but it never feels like enough. The things you are pouring yourself into don't feel as fulfilling as they once did. You feel accomplished, yet empty; successful, but waiting for the other shoe to drop. You've worked hard to build your life, but you know you want to, and need to, make a change.

Stress, anxiety and other difficult emotions may be a normal part of life, but they don't have to be in the driver's seat on life's journey. Through my 25+ years of experience as a counselor and my personal experience of having to reclaim the driver's seat from debilitating anxiety/depression, I have learned the truth behind Marcel Proust's claim that "The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes". It is my goal to help people gain new "eyes" through which to view current or past experiences.

When I think of counseling, I envision all kinds of people who need all different kinds of support. I strive to be able to provide as many kinds of support as needed for my clients. People might want to explore their past, develop coping skills, learn how to respond to a certain life issue, find a listening ear, or have any other goal that will help them live their best life. My goal as a counselor is to help as many people as I can by promoting their wellness, in whatever way that looks like for that person, in a culturally responsive manner.

Something feels off. Something in life just is not working. You feel defeated. Despite numerous successes or reasons you feel you should be happy, you are overcome with sadness, guilt, and shame. You find yourself uncomfortable in your own skin, leading you to avoid everyday life, or overindulging in drugs or alcohol to cope. You feel trapped, and unsure how to fix it. When you make the decision to seek help, it can be an intimidating and overwhelming step to take. As a therapist, I strive to create a space that is safe for clients to be themselves and realize their personal vision for change.

Everyone’s path to healing is unique, and I’m here to support you on your healing journey. Reaching out to begin therapy can be a difficult first step, but you are deserving of healing! I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up unapologetically. Culturally sensitive care is at the forefront of my work, and I enjoy connecting with communities of color and those who hold marginalized identities. I work with many individuals who are seeking therapy for the first time. Welcome!

I am confident in the idea that, as individuals, we are all capable of the growing and healing process that leads us to a free mind. My main goal as a therapist is to begin exploring the problems which brought you to therapy, and then collaborating together in developing strategies and setting specific goals in which you would like to target. My ideal clients are adolescents and young adults who are having trouble expressing themselves, showing signs of low self- esteem, and/or are struggling with anxiety/depression. For adolescent clients, family involvement in the counseling process is required.

You want to make changes in your world, but you feel overwhelmed. Feelings of stress and anxiety leave you unsure of where to even start. You would like to talk to someone, but you are afraid of being misunderstood and judged. The loneliness from not being able to open up about what is happening just creates more helplessness, confusion, and pain.

How can I find a therapist in Burlington?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
