I practice from a Depth Psychology and psychodynamic orientation, and bring my training and experience in AEDP, the Enneagram, mindfulness + inquiry, shadow work, various somatic (body-based) practices, attachment theory, addiction recovery, and healing shame, as well as my multicultural and professional experiences, to inform my work with my clients.
I work from a trauma-informed, relational space of deep listening, in an open, accepting, and non-shaming manner—welcoming of all that you bring to our session. I believe that each human being is perfectly imperfect. I hold a deep curiosity for my clients’ inner worlds and an ability to hold space for difficult material without shame or judgment, seeing the patterns my clients’ stories, beliefs, and feelings weave and sharing those insights and reflections in our process. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I work with adolescents, young adults, and their families, and see adults individually and in group settings.

My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices that draw from various modalities including AEDP (Level I) and CBT.
Sometimes we all need a little support. Whether you’re struggling with work, navigating personal issues, going through a break up, or dealing with a past trauma—you are not alone. For many, it helps to talk with a professional to get a new perspective. If you’re new to therapy, my practice is a welcoming safe space for anyone who wants to “get un-stuck,” (whatever that may mean for you).

Life can present us with challenges we're not prepared for. Underlying issues can make it difficult to cope resulting in difficult moods -- anger or irritability, overwhelm, depression or anxiety, sadness, grief. Other reasons for therapy include relationship troubles (e.g., romantic, family, friends), unresolved trauma, demanding life transitions, stubborn self-defeating patterns, and low self-esteem undermining your life. Psychotherapy can help you move proactively through these challenges with better outcomes and more confidence.

If you are frustrated with what feels like harmful patterns, or a sense of emptiness and aloneness, you've come to the right place. I want to help you uncover the old wounds preventing you from going after the life you want. Together we can explore who you are as the most authentic version of yourself and discover what a life filled with connection, meaning, and purpose looks like to you. I believe pain has a purpose, and that post-traumatic growth is more than possible. I have particular experience working with relational trauma, codependency, anxiety, sense of self and self-esteem, and eating disorders.

Each client walks through my door with their own struggle. And although each person comes with their own unique story, the one thing that clients do share is a search for a more fulfilled life or a greater sense of self. I support clients as they navigate life's harder transitions - a loss of a relationship, the transition to becoming a parent, a job transition, or simply figuring out who they truly are and want to be. We work together to notice and shift your inner critic that so frequently gets in the way. Additionally, I support couples as they work through the challenges and desires that come with a relationship.

I love to work with individuals and couples to discover the emotions and attachment needs which drive their thoughts and behaviors. Sometimes we have feelings that are difficult to experience or express, and so we act in ways to protect the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. This may lead to conflict in our primary relationships, depression, anxiety, substance use, or just the sense that one's life could be more fulfilling. In couples, this can lead to cycles of communication that make it difficult for each partner to know how to soothe their partner and their own self.

When we hold layers of unprocessed experience and emotions, life can feel very constricted. Often we're not even aware that's what's going on. We just feel stuck, and things have a way of feeling like an uphill struggle. That's because the accumulation of stress and overwhelming experiences in our life and relationships can create a new normal that is far removed from who we really are. It becomes harder to connect with our strengths, dreams, aliveness and power.

Expansive Therapy is a 100% LGBTQ+ owned and focused therapy practice. We wanted to go beyond checking a box for queer affirming therapy to creating a practice that was committed to the community, where queer people could bring their whole selves into therapy. Queer theory asks that we look at the world in a new way, not through a heteronormative lens, but from each individual perspective which is unique and perfect. We are passionate about understanding the unique challenges of our community and helping our queer clients to heal.

Do you know what you want? Do you want to be free? Happy? Relaxed in your body? Content? Passionate and sexy? Courageous in the face of fear? More connected to your partner or to the Divine? How do you get in the way of living the life you want? Do you constantly judge yourself? Noticing all the ways you "fail" to live up to way you "should" be. Or do you tend to direct that criticism outwards? Blaming others, feeling envy, or always waiting for external circumstances to line up just right so you can finally live how you want.

AEDP Therapists

Who is AEDP therapy for?

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?

People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?

Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?

AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
