Life can often be tough and full of surprises. We all need help sometimes going through things life throws at us. I offer a safe and confidential space to explore and wrestle with whatever you are dealing with in your life now. The first thing I want you to know is that there is hope.

Not Accepting New Clients at this time. I enjoy working with families, couples, individuals and children. Many of us struggle with anxiety, stress, depression, anger, grief, and more. My approach is to walk alongside you and explore and further process the challenges that may be present in your life. I hope to provide an environment where you may feel safe and accepted. As a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, I use attachment-based, existential, and systems frameworks. Together, we may work together exploring patterns in relationships, support systems, past and present experiences, and emotions.

Assessments start by meeting you and talking about what sort of issues you are experiencing, which helps me determine which assessments will target the areas you are struggling with. This first meeting can occur either in person or via telehealth. The second appointment is the longest, and I will have you complete a variety of assessments, depending on what the presenting problem is. I might also have you complete some assessments at home on the computer. After the testing is completed, I will score them and write up the results into a repot. We will then meet for a final time to discuss the results and recommendations.

Sorry, my schedule is full until 10/24. My approach is based on the belief that we all have the power to heal and find meaning, yet sometimes we need help doing it. I welcome clients who are struggling with anxiety, stress, or daily challenges and specialize in grief, end-of-life anxiety, and psychedelic integration. Together we will create a supportive, non-judgmental, and collaborative space for this work, emphasizing transparency and trust. I agree with Alan Watts: “When you’re freed from being out to improve yourself, your own nature will begin to take over.” We’re all doing the best we can with what we’ve been given.

Accepting new clients as of 9/18/24. I believe you and your relationships are too important to put off therapy. Maybe it’s that reoccurring fight leaving you stuck, unseen, or feeling hopeless in your relationship? Or you are ready to address the anxiety, negative thoughts, or loss of motivation that's been accepted as your new normal. Maybe what previously worked feels dull in this season of life and you want to see and feel progress again. I utilize an integrative approach centered on evidence-based practices such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, ACT, Narrative, and others to help you accomplish your desired outcome in therapy.

I work with a variety of concerns; trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, abandonment, and others. I use an integrative approach leaning heavily on attachment theory. I have also spent significant time working with children and adolescents with complex trauma and/or abandonment. I believe that people have an inherent resiliency, even if it seems lost for a time and people can often find it within themselves to heal and grow with help when needed. My time with clients is spent looking for the ways in which that healing and growth can be realized.

No one makes it through life without picking up stuff that weighs us down or holds us back. Counseling gives us the chance to examine why we're carrying this stuff around and how to let go of it. By using Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy along with a mixture of therapeutic styles, we will work together to uncover the thoughts and beliefs that drive your emotions and behaviors so that you can move forward in your life with confidence. My associates and I work with adults of all ages and with any level of mental health goals or concerns.

Simply put, most of the time individuals coming to therapy know what the problem is, and what needs to be done. The therapy process is about addressing the barriers to doing what you need to do, to have the life you want. Individuals who come to see me are looking to make needed changes in their life, but want assistance achieving it. The barriers can include trauma, beliefs, attitudes, habits, or a myriad of other things that get in the way of change. It's about overcoming the barriers so you can live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Men's Issues Therapists

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?

Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?

Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?

One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
