Rick became a trained and certified therapeutic foster (TFC/HCTC) parent in 2009. Rick is also a certified special education teacher working in the private sector. During this journey, Rick has experience working with children with ADHD, ADD, RAD, ODD, Autism (ASD), anxiety, depression, mood disorder, mild and severe intellectual disabilities, vision/hearing impaired, trauma, learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and TBI.

Ms. Rosa Ruales has a Juris Doctor Degree, a Master in Business Administration, and a Master Degree in Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling, which she graduated with distinction. Her intensive education, bilingual skills, and training combined with her rich multicultural experience has resulted in a solution focused counseling experience for a wide variety of clients. She works with children, families, and couples. She also provides pre-marital counseling. Whether as a couple or as an individual with sexual concerns, infidelity, conflict resolution, communication and connection Ms. Ruales will work with you to help resolve your concerns.

I’ve developed an extensive knowledge-base for evaluating neurodevelopmental disorders under the previous training of two well known neuropsychologists in the valley, Dr. John Mather and Dr. Paul Beljan. I am the best fit for a family who has children between the ages from birth to 24 years old. I offer support to families who are struggling with challenging behaviors from their children and adolescents in home or at school. I offer a unique systemic approach that includes parents in the treatment process that is not found in many other practices. This systemic approach is extremely affective and helps keep parents in the loop and helps families complete the treatment goal faster than other approaches. As I believe therapy for children should be brief and solution focused so they can get back to being a kid.

Through my 15 years of being a foster/adopt parent, I have experienced how trauma, attachment, anxiety, learning disorders, Autism, ADHD, and mood disorders, affect daily functioning and the ability to enjoy life. I have come to appreciate how important it is to feel a sense of safety and belonging. We are biologically wired to need connections/relationships for optimal growth and development. However, negative life experiences, the inability to self-regulate our emotions, and or other mental health concerns, can negatively affect the way we interact with others, causing difficulties in building those positive relationships we need.
