I specialize in working with individuals who find themselves struggling with: depression, anxiety, addiction, managing stress, life transitions, and family conflict.
Choosing to pursue therapy can be a big step to take, and allowing yourself to be vulnerable with a stranger is no easy task. My goal is to meet you where you are. My work with you is focused on working collaboratively to explore your authentic self, using your strengths to help empower you to live a life that aligns with your needs and your values. My multicultural background allows me to be sensitive to and understand how culture and race can impact our mental health.

We all possess the ability for healing, growth, and self-development. Sometimes our efforts toward improvement need helpful nudges. As a therapist, I hope to join you on your journey in the here and now, walking alongside you, the challenges you face, and the growth you hope to experience. Of course, self-healing can be done alone, yet sometimes a therapist can be a helpful addition.

You may be feeling unhappy, like you need to figure some things out and are wondering what you’re going to do. This worry could leave you feeling stressed and afraid to move forward, possibly even getting tired of dealing with a bunch of conflicting thoughts. You might be wishing things could get better, but you don’t know where to start. You don’t know how to fix it, you just know you can’t live like this and can’t keep doing things the same way. You deserve happiness and can learn to have trust in yourself.

My approach to therapy is informed by mindfulness practices, focused on assisting my clients in "opening up" to the present moment while connecting to their values to strive toward their "Best Self!" I focus on assisting clients in attending to their relational concerns, which allows for them to overcome the emotional distress associated with a history of difficult and painful relationships. I find that it is my duty to establish a safe space where clients feel truly understood. In doing so, I feel honored to be able to "BE" with my clients, as they strive toward growth and empowerment.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults from a variety of cultural backgrounds. While I tend conceptualize from a psychodynamic perspective, my treatment tends towards a more integrative model. I often use treatment techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused treatment. I believe that one theory alone is not necessarily going to apply to every individual from a multitude of cultures and backgrounds.

The basis of an ideal client in my lens does not have a select issue. Everyone has their own life challenges and emotional weight they carry with them. In the end, what I want for my clients is a common goal to be the best version of themselves they can be while being open-minded in facing tasks related to that goal. Whether it is an interpersonal relationship problem, anxiety, substance abuse, etc; the ultimate goal is to be better in comparison to yourself yesterday rather than someone else. That common ideal goal is what I aim for with every client I work with through the use of problem-solving strategies and coping mechanisms.

The crux of my approach is simple, but versatile: I use anything and everything available to make breakthroughs possible. We all do better with an expansive toolkit. EMDR for "stuckness" / trauma and Gottman methods for couples to repair & connect. (Well worth YouTubing either for a sense of them.) Once we understand each other and you are insight-equipped, we'll put insight into action. But in ways that feel authentic to your personal experience of things. Clients often report that my approachable, humorous, "very human" style makes therapy a much more effective experience even when exploring difficult content.

Hey there, I want to share a philosophy that's been my guiding light as a therapist – the idea of demystifying therapy. And you know what? It all starts with getting to know me better, which is exactly what I'm here to do! Currently, I am a Black pre-licensed intern at DePaul University for Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I hope to work with clients from all walks of life, particularly those who may be struggling with various identity issues, anxiety, and depression.
