The crux of my approach is simple, but versatile: I use anything and everything available to make breakthroughs possible. We all do better with an expansive toolkit. EMDR for "stuckness" / trauma and Gottman methods for couples to repair & connect. (Well worth YouTubing either for a sense of them.) Once we understand each other and you are insight-equipped, we'll put insight into action. But in ways that feel authentic to your personal experience of things. Clients often report that my approachable, humorous, "very human" style makes therapy a much more effective experience even when exploring difficult content.
When approaching your struggles, I focus on your personal experience with creative applications that use elements of your life which naturally motivate you. With that, we gain a special momentum that keeps you enthusiastic about your progress. We also keep a careful watch on whatever elements repeatedly trip you up. Small victories lead to flourishing.
Two distinctive elements to my approach are in how I help individuals comfortably embrace vulnerability and find a rather stunning genius within their imperfections! The "Transformative Creative Writing Group" is an energetic, dynamic psycho-educational group that helps individuals use writing as a powerful tool to aid in personal reflection, self-cultivation, creativity, and healing. You may have something you wish to share or "vent." You may need to "process" something inwardly or use writing to aid in visualizing the wording that feels lacking. Matt is heavily biased that one's experiencing the wonders of creating and reading material which resonates deeply within us is as much a transpersonal experience as anything else.
