I have also had extensive experience working with adolescents and their parents with issues related to
family
conflict /change and school related issues.
While life's challenges and transitions are often times when we feel greater anxiety and stress, I believe they are also opportunities for self-understanding and growth. Whether you are dealing with stress in relationships or at work, feeling worn out or depressed, or struggling to cope with a loss, you don't have to work through it alone. I strive to provide a safe, supportive and reflective environment where clients can feel comfortable to explore their concerns, feelings, and relationship patterns and build upon their strengths to develop different ways of understanding, coping, and relating to themselves and others.

family
issues in a safe and playful manner with successful results.
You have come here because you want something to change. Therapy can bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. I think a lot about the brain and and how we unconsciously replicate patterns. The work I do uses current neuropsychology to help integrate outdated patterns into newer more helpful ones.

I am honored to accompany people on the very personal journey of growth & healing. Life is not easy; it takes courage to share your vulnerabilities in order to unpack hurt, identify inner strengths & hope, and create solutions towards change. My first step is to truly understand your experiences, your perspective on the world, and the unique intersecting identities you bring into the therapeutic space so that I may offer insights or strategies specific to your situation & personality. I frequently treat self-esteem, shame, identity or relationship concerns, women's issues, codependency, and those with a history of
family
violence.

My professional experience as a developmental psychologist and
family therapist
also inform my practice.
Are you feeling down, or experiencing negative thoughts? Do you struggle to find a sense of calm? Therapy can help. Are you dealing with relationship difficulties, struggles to balance career and personal life, grief, loss or trauma, adapting to health problems, or searching for personal meaning in life? Sorting out and talking through these issues, along with developing adaptive coping strategies can make a positive difference. As the therapeutic process develops, you may also explore your personal history in relation to current stressors, and develop a greater sense of self understanding and discover ways you want to tweak some "old ways of doing things."

As A Certified Rehabilitation Counselor & Licensed ClinicalProfessional Counselor I have provided various forms of counseling including
Family
, Individual, Group, Substance Abuse, Mental Health, DUI, Vocational, and Gambling to both adults and youth populations.
My beliefs are clients hold the keys to their own healing and addressing the trauma in their lives. You have to be the driving force and navigator behind the pursuit of a healthy mind, body, and spirit. The act of being heard and understood is healing in-and-of itself, but an outside view, to guide or push us down the path of self-enlightenment and self-healing, helps. I understand the idea & process of gaining self-awareness via counseling can seem overwhelming and intimidating, but I believe it's actually a safe opportunity for personal growth, development, and achievement.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
