I am trauma informed, EMDR and TF-CBT trained.
Holding space for clients through their life challenges is an honor. Many of the clients I work with have anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, or trauma. Clients are often seeking a safe space to gain the tools to manage their symptoms and process their circumstances. Many individuals want to experience an alleviation of emotional pain and personal growth. I appreciate partnering with clients to create goals to achieve wellness and their best self. I meet clients where they are at and treatment moves at a pace that is comfortable for them.

I am a person-centered therapist, which means that my focus is helping clients realize their full potential. I've been a professional counselor for more than eight years, and I've worked with people who had issues like depression, anxiety, family problems, ADHD, anger management, emotional abuse, and trauma. I am a compassionate person. I believe in treating everyone the way I would like to be treated, with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. My counseling approach is eclectic therapy. Eclectic therapy draws on multiple theoretical orientations and techniques to find the best fit for clients’ needs.

I provide EMDR, CBT, IFS and experiential therapy.
Do you wish that you could stop being so hard on yourself and others? Do you struggle with addiction or a loved one's addiction? Does your anxiety rule your thought processes? Do you struggle in your relationship with your partner? Or your family? Have you repeatedly “tried harder” to change yourself? After trying so hard to make changes, we may begin to doubt if change is possible. Reaching out for help can be hard and takes tremendous courage. But making lasting changes is not easy, and few people can do it alone.

I work to unconditionally welcome my clients and all their parts from the moment they walk through the door. In a world where judgment, shame, and criticism are easily found, I strive to make my office a place where acceptance and space exist for anyone. With my guiding theory of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and integration of Somatic & Attachment-Focused Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing ( EMDR), I practice the tenants of compassion and understanding. Clients have reported to me that this allows for them to feel like their internal world has space and fosters the process of healing from burdening beliefs and trauma.

I’m trained in EMDR and am currently enrolled in the CSTIP program to become a certified sex-informed professional.
I primarily work with individuals and couples struggling with attachment-based anxieties, sexual dissatisfaction or desire differences with their partners. I also work with queer & non-monogamy exploration, as well as those that have experienced religious or relational trauma. I’m drawn to those who are curious and those that want to connect back to their body after being taught over a lifetime that they shouldn’t trust it.

I am a certified EMDR therapist and use trauma focused, mindfulness, and Jungian oriented approaches to help people process trauma, manage anxiety and depression, and reestablish their connection to their core Self.
Do you sometimes find yourself operating from outdated beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you? Such patterns can hold us back and make life seem futile and meaningless, leaving us feeling drained and defeated. They may stem from traumatic experiences, difficult life transitions and challenging relationships. However, we can heal and find new meaning and inspiration in life even after major setbacks. Therapy can help us rekindle hope, creativity and purpose. I help people update their belief systems and functioning so they can regain their autonomy and live more adaptive, fuller versions of themselves.

I operate from a strength-based approach, utilizing both Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR (trauma specialization).
My goal is to instill hope, foster healing, and facilitate growth with each individual and couple that I work with. As a therapist, I have observed that we will all experience pain and suffering. I have also come to the conclusion that when we experience adverse events, we cope in whatever way protects us from feeling more pain. As your therapist, I will offer compassion and empathy as we explore the ‘why’ behind specific patterns and habits that keep you feeling stuck. We will also work towards gaining new coping skills and tools that will help you meet your specific goals.

I fuse attachment based therapy, Somatic Experiencing, parts work, and EMDR into my work with clients.
The greatest gift we can give to ourselves and those we love is to heal our wounds. Through healing, we can begin to hear what others are truly saying without the filter of our wounds. We can connect deeper with ourselves and others. We begin to feel a sense of ease and clarity in the present without constantly feeling plagued by our past. Maybe you're aware of certain circumstances that you have experienced which are impacting your current functioning; maybe you aren't. Either way, if you feel the inner pull toward self discovery, Embodied Therapy and Wellness is here for you.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
