Recognizing the unique challenges faced by new parents, I offer support and guidance to ease the adjustment period. Whether it is coping with sleep deprivation, managing conflicting parenting styles, or addressing communication breakdowns, I provide a safe space for parents to explore their concerns and develop effective strategies to nurture their child's growth while maintaining their own well-being. Additionally, I offer a compassionate space for individuals experiencing perinatal mood disorders, anxiety, or other mental health concerns, working collaboratively to develop coping mechanisms and restore emotional security.

Divorce, job loss, chronic illness - these all can cause tremendous distress. Even daily stressors, the ones you think you can handle, can become overwhelming and throw your life and health out of balance. Therapy can help! Therapy can also be highly effective in treating anxiety, depression, and other emotional disorders (and reduce the chance the same problem will return in the future). I have been licensed as a Psychologist (Ph.D.) since 1993 and I am currently in private practice in Buford, Georgia. I offer services for adults and adolescents (18+) using a variety of approaches (primarily cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy).

I empower clients to manage their anxiety and navigate changes by employing evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Fostering a strong sense of self-esteem and identity is essential for personal growth. As a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, I provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals can openly discuss their experiences, concerns, and aspirations related to their identity.

The expectation often is that becoming a mother is the most joyous moment of a woman’s life, but on the inside motherhood can feel isolating and crazy. These inner thoughts can be difficult to manage alone. Sharing with others is risky – letting go of appearances – or fear of what others will think – or how they might react – all add to the isolation new parents often feel. During pregnancy and the baby’s first year, anxiety can run high with a thousand “what-if” worries. Handling worries and the new identity can be overwhelming when also facing sleep deprivation.

As a therapist, I am blessed to witness the power that individuals have to persevere - even thrive - in the face of life's most difficult problems. I know that every patient brings their own courage, strength and skills, though they may not recognize these aspects of themselves. As a Christian, I understand the power of grace, having experienced it in my own life. And, what I appreciate most about the therapeutic relationship is the opportunity to share grace with others while helping them move beyond the emotional, behavioral, or relational issues that keep them from having the life they desire.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
