Is your teen anxious, withdrawn, or engaging in behaviors that concern you? Is your child experiencing difficulty in school, with friendships, or managing their emotions? Young people often express their needs and emotions differently than adults, and it can be difficult for parents to understand or know what to do. In my practice, I help young people process what they are experiencing, and help parents understand and feel confident supporting their child's growth and development. In addition, I have extensive experience working with adults struggling with transitions, relationship issues,
anxiety
, and depression.

I work with people online and in person with mood disorders (depression or the "baby blues") as well
anxiety
disorders (OCD, General
Anxiety
).
I know how hard it can be to ask for help. This can be even more difficult when you are feeling vulnerable, depressed, anxious or stressed. Therapy is enormously helpful. My goal is to provide a safe, non judgemental environment in which to discuss your concerns and help you feel better. We will work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that works for you.

I specialize in working with
anxiety
in childhood, helping kids develop coping skills and personal sense of strength.
Hello! Is your child or teen struggling? Are you looking for someone who can help them through? I specialize in helping children and teens get through tough times. Kids often have a harder time knowing when they need help. They may act out with eccentric behavior, or keep it all in, seeming suddenly sad and reserved. Issues such as depression,
anxiety
, divorce or bullying are overwhelming for kids and their parents. In therapy, we develop tools to communicate what's hard and develop confidence and a strong sense of self along the way.

I have significant experience with youth & young adults that struggle with
anxiety
, depression, trauma, & at-risk behaviors.
Clients that I work with are looking to explore the difficult emotions that they are carrying & process events that they have experienced that are impacting their every day life. Stress, worries, & life satisfaction are often what bring clients to therapy however processing the needs not being met & how to shift our awareness to engage in life in a way forward are what I often support clients in working on. Processing trauma & past events can be a focus as this can help to change perspective, increase emotional vulnerability, explore relationships dynamics as well as increase the awareness that trauma has on the whole body.

I am here and I want to help you. You can become a happier and healthier you!

Our therapists will help you identify stuck patterns, ways of processing, & habits of interacting so you can have choice in how you relate to yourself and others & empathy for your own
fears
, longings, and vulnerabilities.
We serve individuals and couples with a wide range of mental health needs. As attachment-based therapists, we believe that a felt sense of secure connection with others is of primary importance. We offer a corrective emotional experience in which you will get to feel securely bonded and emotionally safe. Our therapists focus on the present process unfolding in each session, attuning to you with empathy & responsiveness. We will help you see your strengths, make sense of your emotional life, & feel heard and validated, so you can develop a more positive & meaningful narrative about yourself & your life. Everybody’s behavior makes sense when we take the time to understand the good, adaptive reasons we developed those behaviors in the first place. We are wired for emotional connection and even our most seemingly negative behaviors are an attempt to feel loved, safe, & connected.

Welcome! I recently completed my PhD in Psychology, Public Policy, and Law, meaning I have a more in-depth understanding of the intersection between the mental health and criminal justice systems - this does not make me a clinical psychologist. I have also been recently certified as a Certified Personality Disorder Provider (C-PD). My primary therapeutic modality is Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which has been empirically proven to help individuals struggling with self-harm, suicidal ideation, intense mood fluctuations, unstable relationships, poor emotion regulation capabilities, and frequent impulsive & risk-taking behaviors.

There is nothing quite like emotional pain. We carry it with us everywhere. It messes up our life. Sometimes it makes us want to hide from other people; sometimes from ourselves. Sometimes we turn to various escapes to quiet that insistent feeling in our bodies. We look to one solution after another until we learn to mistrust every solution. And we are right. There is no one-size-fits-all answer. In fact, there isn't even a one-size-fits-all question. You are unique, and only you have the answer. My role is to help you find it.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
