Hello! My name is Emily Linaman and I want to help you work with your strengths, and identify behaviors and patterns that may hold you back from growing into the best version of yourself. Old habits die hard, especially when they are related to past trauma survival skills and other coping mechanisms that no longer serve you. As I earn your trust, I hope we can explore how certain behaviors and habits lead to numbing out, depression, dissociation, isolation, self-sabotage and self-harm. As an ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) therapist, I combine therapeutic yoga practices with ACT therapy methods to help you train your mind, rewire your brain, and do what works. I have specialized training in perinatal mental health, including postpartum depression and anxiety, and practice trauma-informed treatment, including EMDR. It is my goal to help you sort out how to deal with your challenges and support you develop into a better you. I also know that I am an African American cisgender male, and I want to use my presence in the therapy field to help increase the comfort level for males and minorities to receive clinical services.

It's important to me that you feel better as soon as possible. I work with a range of clients from children to elders. I've worked extensively with children and teens who are challenged with depression or anxiety due to school pressures, ADHD, peer problems, divorce, abuse or trauma, as well as loss and grief. I understand that events from the past can negatively impact how you are living today. I've worked a lot with adults abused as children, adult children of alcoholics or drug addicts, and individuals with mentally ill family members.

I'm passionate about helping men transform life's difficulties into opportunities. Anxiety, trauma, depression, and major life transitions are issues within my scope of expertise. After more than 35 years of working with individuals and families and more than 47 years of a deeply rewarding marriage and family life, I continue to love the process of helping adults of all ages cross the threshold towards an authentic and deeply satisfying life.
