I understand that the decision to seek therapy is not always an easy one, often times it can feel intimidating and scary. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I strive to create a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment to encourage honest communication and trust between partners and family members. Great Relationships aren’t great because they have no challenges or struggles. Great relationships are great because individuals choose to find a way to make the relationship work. Sometimes, that includes relationship/family counseling. As a family and relationship therapist, I am here to help you work through the many challenges and struggles that often prevent couples/families from moving forward. I believe in individualizing treatment to help each family member/partner feel heard and loved.

My background as a therapist includes working with adults and adolescents who are experiencing crisis in their lives due to past and/or present circumstances. Life transitions, PTSD, bullying, self-harm, grief, unresolved relationship issues, divorce, addiction, and/or mental illness can trigger irrational thinking, negative emotions, and harmful behaviors.

Now accepting new clients! I have worked with children and families my entire career in a variety of settings including schools and mental health clinics. I have experience working with children zero to 17 and their families. These children have experienced trauma, behavioral and mental health challenges. I also have experience working with families who are experiencing conflict, communication and parenting issues and utilize evidence based intervention to help improve family health.

Throughout my education and work experiences, I have discovered my passion in helping adolescent and adult clients through individual, couples, and family therapy. I am passionate about working with couples and taking a deep dive into family of origin bonds and their long-lasting impact on our current relationships. I help couples explore early attachment injuries, discover their attachment style and increase awareness of how we show up in the way we relate to ourselves and others. I also focus on working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues and relational conflict. My goal is to help clients recognize the negative core beliefs that are dictating their behaviors and thought patterns and gently exploring their origins.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that predominately focuses on work with adolescents, young adults and their families or support systems. I have spent my career working with adolescents and families in both outpatient and residential therapy settings. Zulema has a background in human development, family studies and clinical social work. She has worked in social services for the last eleven years. She has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages and is a native Spanish speaker. She is passionate about the mind-body connection and helping individuals become more in tune to themselves. Her counseling approach is predominantly holistic, strengths-based and culturally sensitive. She honors the importance of partnering with individuals to become an active force in their treatment and help them achieve their goal.
