Therapy is an intimate process; revealing feelings might feel scary and uncomfortable. My greatest reward as a counselor is helping my clients explore ways to make changes in their lives that will allow them to look forward to the future with hope. I was born in Salinas and lived in California for the majority of my life. I am proud to have had the honor to serve in the military for five years. I have 18 years of experience providing psychotherapy in California's central valley. I have been licensed in California since 2012 and became licensed in Arizona in 2020. I am new to the Phoenix area and feel excited to start working with the community here as well. My theoretical approach to counseling is eclectic where I incorporate cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, and psychodynamic treatment.

I have two decades of experience in clinical practice, research in counseling and behavioral health. Jerry Andrews is a Licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist, as well as a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor. He has a Masters degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage, Family, and Child. His experience in behavioral health began in the mid 1990's, holding positions such as: group home staff worker for troubled youth, case manager for the severely mentally ill population, and site manager/director for a psychiatric outpatient mental health facility. These roles have helped strengthen what Mr. Andrews offers as a therapist, and have allowed him to approach each case in a comprehensive manner.

I am excited to offer the services of my private therapy practice for children, adolescents, and their families, as well as adults, Through the Woods Therapy AZ, LLC.   For the past 11 years I have worked with children and their families who have struggled with issues including but not limited to: suicide attempts and ideation, homicidal ideation, family conflict, behavioral issues, aggression, anxiety, emotional and physical abuse, ADHD, defiance, and emotion dysregulation. I also provide therapy services for adults struggling with depression, anxiety, anger management, as well as other difficulties.

DBT Resiliency Center specializes in DBT for Children. DBT for Children (DBT-C) is a treatment program that focuses on skill development for parents of kids who are emotionally sensitive and highly reactive. DBT-C focuses on changing the environment to meet the needs of the child. For this reason, the family is seen as the “patient". Adults, teens, tweens and children who would like to learn skills for coping with intense emotions and working towards a life worth living. We want to grow and learn how to change certain behaviors. Beljan Psychological Services (BPS) administers pediatric and adult neuropsychological evaluations to accurately determine diagnoses and direct interventions. Dr. Beljan also co-wrote Large Scale Brain Systems and Neuropsychological Tests: An Effort to Move Forward, which will be published in October 2015.
