I specialize in helping adults navigate trauma, anxiety, sports performance and performance anxiety.
Is that painful experience or worry stuck on repeat in your mind? Maybe it was a scary incident, negative comment, embarrassing moment or even a sports injury. Or maybe you're nervous AF about exams, public speaking, or playing in your game. Regardless, you're tired of it bothering you so much. And you're fed up with your fear preventing you from doing what you really want to do. But you're ready to feel calm again. You're ready to perform well and stop questioning your self-worth. And most of all, you want to reclaim joy, move forward with confidence and feel like yourself again. I want to help you get there.

I’ve worked with individuals who struggle with eating disorders, anxiety, trauma, identity and gender issues for over 20 years.
Are you feeling stuck and getting the support you need from someone who gets it has proved challenging? Do you feel like food or your body have taken over your life and things you once enjoyed don’t feel as important anymore? Have you tried getting better on your own and it just doesn’t seem to work? I know the thought of change in and of itself can be scary without knowing what the outcome will be, but this is where I come in to help.

I help people work through trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, spiritual issues and life transitions.
We all are looking to live joyful, empowered lives. Yet when we run into challenges that are confusing and painful, it can create feelings that are hard to navigate. Some of these feelings might include fear, heart-break, shame, loneliness, uncertainty and hopelessness. Within the turmoil of these painful experiences, there is always an opportunity to heal and grow. At the core of every person is a well of goodness and love waiting to be accessed. My approach is to facilitate deep emotional healing, to help others tap into their strengths, move through challenges and restore joyfulness of being.

Has experience with anxiety, a depressed mood, trying to be perfect, or problematic behaviors been negatively impacting the relationship towards others and yourself? It can feel extremely frustrating and defeating. I am here to help identify, and enable, a treatment experience that is tailored towards your needs, to help change the relationship you have with difficult experiences and reconnect with what is most important to you in your life.

I help adults move from surviving to thriving. I create a safe space and supportive relationship where clients can gain a better understanding of behaviors that developed to protect/help them previously, but could be hindering them now. I help empower clients to utilize their strengths or put new tools in their emotional toolbelt to overcome challenging chapters in life. I focus on working with adult individuals struggling with trauma (including PTSD and complex PTSD), depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress, and substance use disorders.

My specific areas of expertise include: eating disorders, disordered eating & mood related challenges such as anxiety, trauma & depression.

Those patterns often involve include unresolved issues with food & the body, up's & down's with mood &, challenges in relationships. Because difficulty w/ food, body & mood look different for each client, depending on the day or season of life they are in, I provide individualized, tailored expertise in a space that’s affirming, genuine, & wholly focused on my clients' healing.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
