Certified in IFS and EMDR and using Somatic Therapy, I help clients that experience anxiety, perfectionism, and PTSD/CPTSD.
Some days you feel on top of the world with everything you have accomplished thanks to your ambition and determination. Other days you feel a debilitating sense of anxiety and depression relating to your past trauma, everything left on your to-do list, or the general uncertainty of the future, and can’t seem to shake it off and relax. Perfectionism, anxiety, and trauma can make you feel like you are never enough - not smart enough, capable enough, strong enough, safe enough, loveable enough… the list goes on. This makes your everyday life feel confusing, your spirit heavier, and your future bleaker. You know something has to change.

While I mainly work from a skill-based approach, I also think it is very important to understand and address underlying stressors that drive mood and anxiety symptoms (work stress, relationship difficulties, traumatic experiences, negative childhood experiences, etc) in my work with patients.
I received training through Harvard University/Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in the treatment of Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Hypochondriasis, Panic Disorder, Skin-picking, Hairpulling, Social Anxiety, and Phobias. I also specialize in treating ADHD/Executive Functioning issues that make it difficult for young adults to get through college. I use the most up-to-date, empirically-validated, hands-on treatments to help my patients achieve real results by reducing active symptoms and improving their quality of life.

Utilizing EMDR, Brainspotting, CBT and mindfulness practices, I work with those struggling with racial, multicultural, and gender identity concerns, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem/image, and emotional distress.
Just about everything in life ebbs and flows which at times can leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and defeated. It is important to remember that although life may feel heavy at this moment, it does get better and you don’t have to feel ashamed of your emotions. You are entitled to recognize and accept the individual that you are right now, while also feeling inspired and motivated by the individual you envision yourself to be in the future.

I have experience working with and enjoy helping individuals who struggle with a variety of presenting concerns, including: depression, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and life transitions.
After several years in the field, I cannot explain how inspired I am by the many individuals and stories I have encountered. When I think of counseling, I think of several things: listening, developing a true connection, skill-building, productive honesty, and even celebrating the possibility of not needing counseling anymore. My therapeutic approach is comprised of these several aspects, along with moments of light-hearted humor.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
