My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and affirming. I also often use humor. I believe that so much of our suffering is rooted in feeling alone and disconnected. We feel far away from important parts of ourselves and from people we love. I see therapy as a place where we can be curious together, where we seek reconnection with ourselves and others, and where we practice self-compassion as a way through emotional pain. I am interested in working with folks who are curious about themselves, who are interested in learning how to live with themselves and others with more ease, and who want more agency and freedom.

In addition to the developmental, somatic relational work that is my primary orientation, I am also trained in AEDP, EMDR , and several trauma modalities.
I'd love to help you become the best of yourself. Together we create a safe space to expand the resources you already have to create change. Our focus is on the present day challenges reflecting earlier disruptions. We update old patterns of behavior to ground you in today's possibilities for greater satisfaction. My experience as a somatic therapist can help you to recognize the resources that already exist in your body. People I work with often suffer from relationship problems, low self esteem, shame, anxiety, depression, PTSD. I enjoy being fully present with you so you can be fully present with yourself.

I treat therapists and other healthcare professionals from a psychodynamic, person-centered, and AEDP-oriented framework.
I am a therapist for therapists specializing in complex trauma, low self-esteem, self-harm, substance use, and existential anxiety. As a mental health professional, you may present as successful, but you might feel ashamed or unsettled in life. You might also experience fears about your capacity to help clients or manage your emotional well-being. You probably "know" the right coping skills and "have the insight," but you're seeking deeper introspection and hoping to resolve deep inner conflicts. You're also open to engaging in a meaningful relationship where you can explore some of the more tender issues in life.

As a former Associate Professor of Psychology, I have taught, received certifications or trainings in AEDP, EMDR, IFS, Somatic Experiencing, Brain Based Therapy, and Applied Neuroscience.
Welcome to Accelerated Psychology. I created this practice to offer cutting edge psychotherapies and neuoscientific treatments in a warm and compassionate environment. Integrating neuroscientific and psychotherapeutic treatments is often the most effective path to psychological healing and growth, because the two approaches work synergistically to create a brain state that is most receptive to treatment. For over 25 years, I have specialized in helping those who suffer from mild or severe anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, ADHD, or post-traumatic stress, and helping survivors and witnesses of terror from around the world.

I utilize evidence-based practices including Emotionally Focused Therapy and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy.
I work with clients who, despite their best efforts, seem to keep running up against a wall. Whether it's due to past childhood traumatic experiences, current work or relationship stressors or no known reason, I would love to support you. I especially enjoy working with couples as they navigate stuck patterns of disconnection. For individuals my primary focus is usually with anxiety and parenting. Clients who come to me often want a clearer understanding of their emotional experiences and relationship patterns. A main goal my clients are looking to achieve include a deeper and stronger relationship with themselves and others.

I often incorporate accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mind-body connections to address the complexities of each individual and their struggles.
How do you feel about seeking help, especially for your mental and emotional health? Do you think it’s a sign of weakness? As a psychologist, I see it as a sign of strength, courage, self-awareness and maturity. I work with my clients to identify what they’re needing in order for them to improve their lives. I help people find the ways to change and experience personal growth and healing. I support my clients as they discover new aspects of themselves, which can be a challenging but rewarding process.

AEDP Therapists

Who is AEDP therapy for?

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?

People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?

Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?

AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
