My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and affirming. I also often use humor. I believe that so much of our suffering is rooted in feeling alone and disconnected. We feel far away from important parts of ourselves and from people we love. I see therapy as a place where we can be curious together, where we seek reconnection with ourselves and others, and where we practice self-compassion as a way through emotional pain. Finding a therapist is no easy task. And, a good match is so important. If what I say resonates, please feel free to read more on my website and reach out.
I have over 15 years of clinical experience. My specialties include working with the LGBTQ+ communities, especially providing affirming and informed care to transgender, gender expansive, and nonbinary folks. In addition to working with and for the LGBTQ+ communities, I also specialize in grief/loss, relationships, and body image and chronic dieting.
My personal and professional values are deeply rooted in social justice. In therapy, we can explore and uncover the often hidden ways structural forces, i.e., racism, classism, weight oppression, ableism, patriarchy, etc., impact psychological health. Also, in therapy, we build resilience and restore hope in the face of discrimination and systemic barriers.
