I also provide comprehensive psychological assessments for the differential diagnosis of ADHD and learning disorders, and I have been very successful in helping individuals receive accommodations in school and work settings.
In psychotherapy, I am a supportive listener who helps clients to uncover blind spots where difficulties lurk. I teach healthy coping strategies, and I coach people to try out new behaviors in their daily lives. I further help individuals, families, and couples to shore up inner resources to face life's challenges effectively and with a stronger sense of self-worth. I also guide individuals toward a better understanding of their feelings and emotional states. Finally, my approach focuses on breaking problematic interpersonal patterns and striving to be more autonomous and self-governing in one's day-to-day life.

If you are struggling and you don't know what's wrong, or if you suspect ADHD and/or Autism Spectrum and want a more definitive answer, I offer psychological/neuropsych testing for children (ages 8+), adolescents, and adults to identify any academic, behavioral, or emotional problems; as well as provide recommendations for effective treatment strategies.
Do you feel stressed out and tired of trying to do everything yourself? Have you been thinking about talking to someone, but it hasn't felt like the right time yet? And is it getting harder to set certain thoughts and feelings aside and "just not think about it?" I specialize in helping people work through stressful transitions and high-conflict situations. Through individual or couple's therapy, we can work together to find peace again and achieve the goals which you've wanted but have felt out of reach.

I also work with adults diagnosed with ADHD.
One successful outcome of therapy is to make your life more meaningful and fulfilling. Usually, this means changing how we deal with difficulty, focusing our attention on what truly matters, and choosing different actions. I believe in using evidence-based approaches to treatment. Having worked with hundreds of clients over my career, I know that you can quickly improve your life with the right tools that help you build the necessary skills. If you are hesitant about an unending commitment to therapy but believe you can benefit from change, our work will be productive.

My niche specialties include working with women with a suspected or later-in-life diagnosis of ADHD, members of the legal community, those suffering with disenfranchised (unpopular/overlooked/invalidated) grief or who have experienced dating trauma.
Hi! Whether this is the 1st or the 15th profile you've viewed, I'm sending you the highest of high fives for seeking support while surviving all of THIS (picture me gesturing to the current state of the world). Adulting is hard and it’s made worse when we feel alone in the challenges we face. As a therapy client myself for many years, I am always cognizant of what it can feel like sitting on the couch. This experience feeds my passion to work hard to extend the same support and compassion to my clients that I have received from my therapist when I needed it the most.

Though symptoms related to focus, inattention, and follow through are the hallmarks of ADHD, you don’t have to have a formal diagnosis to be annoyed with these issues.
We all procrastinate from time to time— that assignment isn’t that hard, the towels aren’t that dirty, the mail isn’t so urgent. Suddenly, it’s 9:30PM, and even though you used the day productively (reorganizing Tupperware and extra electronic cables), the one thing you needed to do didn’t get done. Procrastination isn’t about being lazy or mismanaging time; it’s a misunderstanding of internal motivations and anxieties. I can help you implement changes in your life to decrease avoidant (procrastinating) behaviors as well as the frustration and guilt that comes with it.

As a neurodiverse therapist formally diagnosed with ADHD and Autism, I offer a unique perspective and understanding to my clients. My passion is working with adults, especially those experiencing life transitions, family and relationship conflict, ADHD, anxiety, and depression.
I understand how overwhelming the process of finding a therapist can be as well as the discouragement felt when your therapist isn’t the right fit. My approach to therapy is down to earth and humanistic. Therefore, I recognize that everyone is having their own authentic and imperfect experience which cannot be judged, and the way I treat every client mirrors that. My core belief is that everyone deserves to be heard, and my clients walk away from sessions feeling seen, heard, and supported. I tell all of my clients that I’m just a regular person, too, and provide realistic and self-compassionate perspectives.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
