Drawing on my education and experience, as well as my extensive training in yoga therapy, I take a holistic approach to working with clients using the mind-body connection. I truly believe that each person has an innate ability to grow, learn, and heal from life's challenges. However, in certain seasons of life, we feel stuck, tired, or forget that we are capable and resilient. As a therapist, I'm dedicated to creating a safe, nonjudgmental space to support clients in removing barriers to growth and change so they can remember and access to their truest, most authentic self.

Have you experienced an event or years of adverse events that you are realizing have impacted you in a negative way? Do you feel like this event/s has stolen a part of you that you have not been able to get back? Traumatic events have a way of changing who we are and how we function in our every day lives. But this doesn't have to be a life sentence. You can heal and take your life back, but it starts with facing those traumas and processing them fully so that you can move forward. I am passionate about helping people with trauma reclaim their lives so they can live fully!

I know that your pain and trauma make you feel lost and small. That the conflict relationally is exhausting. You want the hurt replaced by healing, and the feeling of being lost by knowing you have a place and are grounded. Let’s go there!

If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, or have trauma in your past I can help, using talk therapy, EMDR therapy and/or Polyvagal therapy, all of which are scientifically proven to be effective. In addition, I am certified in the Prepare/Enrich tool, a wonderful aid in pre-marital counseling and for marriages that are not in crisis but need better ways to communicate and manage conflict. As a compassionate therapist who will champion your strengths, I'd love to join you on your journey by offering you a safe, non-judgmental environment in which to process any challenges you might be working through.

You are incredibly brave. By seeking counseling you are choosing to fearlessly evolve and cultivate an authentic existence, despite hardships. Together let's work through past traumas and abandonment wounds, build secure attachments, learn tools for emotional awareness, practice mindfulness skills for coping with anxieties, and assist you in becoming aligned with the authentic you - your truest self. It is when we get stuck in uncomfortable yet familiar patterns that mental chaos arises. Let's deepen your relationship with you - so that the magnificence of who you are is never dimmed again.

My desire is to provide a place that is set aside and safe as people journey into the deep places of their hearts and to companion with them into these sacred spaces. I consider it an honor and privilege to get to bear witness as people step into their stories and discover their belovedness.

Now accepting clients and most insurance). Are you tired of your past creating your present? Done with anxiety and panic attacks and avoiding all people and things that "trigger" you. Feeling better is not as easy as just changing how you think- if it was we would not get stuck like we do. Myb work with individuals takes time and is all client-driven- there is no push to work on any one topic. I have found that comfortable conversation and creating a strong and safe relationship at the beginning of treatment leads to some of the best and most successful therapeutic work.

Sometimes, we find ourselves buried under challenging life circumstances. When this happens, we are left with three options: remain stuck and undecided, fight through, wounded and bitter, or emerge stronger, wiser and more resilient. I love coming alongside clients who feel they are without hope, and helping them find their inner strengths to emerge resilient. I have experience working with trauma, grief, PTSD, pain management, postpartum depression, chronic medical conditions, OCD, substance use, ADHD, depression, anxiety, bi-polar, and marriage and family issues.

A recent client told me “It's so validating and refreshing to be able to do therapy in a way that actually works for me after spending so many years in cognitive behavioral modalities that did very little for my trauma.” So many clients share the feeling of “undoing aloneness” in our sessions. This undoing of aloneness has helped clients reconcile and unburden themselves of trauma as well as feel thankful for being able to learn how to listen to their heart and their heart’s certainty of their worthiness. Our relationship has helped them to create a healing and grounding relationship with themselves...listening to their hearts.

Finding the right therapist is no different than finding the perfect dentist, doctor, or other medical professional. In many ways, it may even be more important to you. Your therapist may know more about you than any other person in your life. I take this responsibility very seriously. I realize that you are trusting me with one of your most precious assets, your mental health. There have been times in my life that I have needed the assistance of a good therapist, and I understand how important it is to you.

We all have our own negative stories that we tell or have about ourselves. You come to counseling to learn how to sit in joy and happiness. You don't come to counseling to learn about how to be depressed, anxious, or how to talk about yourself in a negative way. I value the therapeutic relationship, and together we will build a safe place, as I believe this is one of the key components to become the best version of yourself. In our time together, my goal and my hope is to assist you to re-author your story and learn how to sit in happiness versus the negative messages you tell yourself.

My role is to create a safe enough environment for you to be your authentic self, first in therapy and then showing up authentically with those around you. Because no person is an island and most interact with others everyday, therapy can help you transition out of social awkwardness and isolation into enriched and fulfilling interpersonal relationships. I have been promoting mental health professionally since 1998. I value ethical conduct, accessible pricing, effective interventions, and practical methods in psychotherapy practice. Please only email or call me but do not go to my website and book an appointment!

We all have difficult times in our lives. I believe we have the answers we are seeking within ourselves. However, we sometimes need help and guidance to get to those answers. And, with help, we all can heal and be whole. As a result, we have more peace and joy in our lives.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
