I currently only have openings for psychological evaluations. I want to help people work to being a healthier self. Life can be extremely stressful, so it's important to take care of yourself. Your mental health creates the foundation for your whole wellness. I see therapy as a way for people to be on the path to improvement.

Our minds have a good way of making us feel completely alone, don't they? I know what it feels like to be where you are today. I applaud you for taking the time to search for a therapist, as it takes a lot of bravery. But you are here. You made it to this page and that is the first step toward progress. As a former teacher, I have a lot of experience working with all ages. I am passionate about meeting each individual where they are at when they enter my office. My interest areas include working with adolescents, young adults, woman's issues, depression, and anxiety.

Parenting is hard and doesn't come with an instruction book. As a therapist trained to work with children and families, I help parents whose children are struggling with challenges related to behavioral and emotional concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, abuse, peer and school difficulties and adjustment issues. I can help you understand and manage your child's behavior, explore ways to feel more emotionally connected with them, and improve your relationship. Let me help you connect with your child so that you can build and strengthen your relationship in order to work through any challenges you might be facing.

Not every therapist is for a client and not every client for a therapist. The Client-Clinician relationship is of greatest importance. I work with a variety of populations, presenting issues, and within different realms of interventions and theories. It is not a one shoe fits all. I meet the client where they are and work accordingly. Now that is not to say I do not nudge gently with a soft challenge. If I didn't I would not be doing my work, nor the service you (and everyone) deserves! I utilize animals within therapy work in sessions.

Hello and welcome! It takes a lot of courage to consider getting support for a better life. I hope to be able to help. One of my goals in counseling is to facilitate growth and development through compassionate understanding and research-based solutions. I believe that authentic and productive change begins by establishing trust in the counseling relationship. This is the foundation on which I work with clients, as we talk about issues in their past, develop skills for overcoming present challenges, and create a new, more hopeful future together.

You are struggling to see yourself as worthy in your own life. Negative self-talk takes up the majority of your thoughts. People have hurt you in the past or have convinced you that you're not good enough in some way so you now experience self-doubt when it comes to any decisions that you need to make. You isolate yourself because it is safer to be alone (even though you hate being alone) than it is to have the possibility of getting hurt again. Most of your decisions are based around how to keep other people happy instead of making yourself happy. However, you are ready for a change.

We all go through periods of time in our lives when we could use a helping hand. Many different circumstances exist that can cause us to struggle: stress, life transitions, parenting, relational challenges, unresolved issues from the past, etc. Counseling can be a great place to find support and get help with figuring out what changes you want to make and how to go about them. I enjoy building supportive relationships with my clients and helping them to navigate life’s challenges. I have a particular passion for work involving parenting challenges and the parent-child relationship.

Is your child struggling with school? Children, adolescents and college-aged people often experience academic problems related to attention deficits, anxiety, obsessive/compulsive symptoms, depression and ongoing underachievement. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Structural Family Therapy help students and their families develop new patterns of relationship and change old, repetitive patterns that are not working. We can learn optimism (versus pessimism), persistence (versus procrastination) and engagement (versus avoidance). Neuropsychological evaluation helps to inform educational and treatment planning.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
