Women seek me out to help build boundaries and self-confidence while trying to manage the stressors of life. Most of the women that come to see me believe, if they can "just do a little better" then they will eventually find the perfect balance; only to find, the amount of effort they put in doesn't change their outcome. I also work with people in the LGBTQ+ community and people that love someone in the LGBTQ+ community struggling to adapt to the changes happening in their life. Ultimately, maybe you're just seeking a sense of self or belonging while dealing with emotional consequences of being rejected by toxic mainstream culture.

I provide a safe environment for clients to process their issues. I believe that psychotherapy is more than talk therapy. I am excited about the new research and treatments that focus on mind and body (somatic memories). I have an integrative approach to therapy. I work best with complex trauma (emotional and physical, including childhood neglect) and resulting anxiety and depression. I work well with grief related issues (complicated grief) and problems that arise from chronic illnesses.

Women often face unique mental health challenges throughout various stages of life. Shifts in the female hormone levels can cause temporary mood changes, including symptoms of depression and anxiety. These temporary changes can grow to significantly impact our day-to-day lives, without proper intervention and support. As someone with lived experience, I understand the complexities, both emotionally and physically, as well as the need for empathetic support during these times.

Clients often come in with so many layered and complex reasons and often times they need someone to listen and support them. Clients may also need to seek comfort and awareness of their situations and need help navigating which way to go. Sorting through emotional distress can be overwhelming, especially if you have no support system. Clients ultimately need to be seen, heard and understood and that they matter in all aspects!

You appear calm and competent, but inside you feel anxious, numb, or like something essential has gone missing. You overthink, strive, people-please—yet you can’t shake the feeling that you’ve abandoned yourself along the way. Maybe you’ve lost touch with your creativity, your body, or your dreams. You long for depth, authenticity, and real connection, but don’t quite know how to begin. Therapy, for you, isn’t about fixing what’s broken—it’s about reclaiming what’s been buried. If you’re feeling stuck at a threshold, I can help you cross.

It is the case that life is rarely as we expect it to be and may seem more difficult and confusing than we can bear alone. You may expend a tremendous amount of energy holding it together or trying to maintain the appearance of perfection leaving you feeling depleted and unfulfilled. My hope is to meet you where you are and walk alongside you to help sort out your emotions, enhance your relationships, understand yourself, achieve goals, and facilitate healing.

Many of my clients have struggled with various forms of anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions and past trauma. Many of my clients have been women of color navigating challenges with family, work, grief, parenting and relationships, while attempting to cope with the stressors that come with these roles. Often, these clients are attempting to be the best version of themselves, and want assistance in identifying and strengthening ways to thrive, rather than merely survive.

Life isn’t easy for the LGBTQ+ community. You’re dealing with SO MANY challenges: discrimination, identity issues, coming out, rejection, marginalization, and past trauma. The pain goes deep, leaving you with anxiety, depression, and an unfulfilling life. You need support and guidance, but finding it isn’t easy. Sure, you can read books, talk to friends, or try the latest TikTok “life hack,” but none of these options gives you the nonjudgmental environment needed to foster long-term change. Plus, you need someone who understands the LGBTQ+ experience – someone with years of experience helping folks like you embrace your true self.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
