Eleanor Roosevelt said, "Most of the good work in the world is done by people who weren't feeling all that well the day they did it." I think this statement reminds us about the human condition (which is) imperfect. Human beings have a biological and social need for each other. In fact, neuroscientists have discovered the anatomical regions of the brain that help maintain human connections throughout our including the time following a loved one's death. I am a licensed therapist in Kentucky. Master's degrees include community counseling and art therapy. I offer attentive, supportive, and compassionate therapy.

I understand that sometimes we are just surviving rather than thriving. While in survival mode, we often rely on disordered eating possibly because of past traumas. This takes its toll on us physically and emotionally. Have you ever spent the majority of the day thinking about food or fearing your next meal? Maybe you have had a big transition in life, moved from home to college, ended a relationship or are now an empty nester. Do you try to avoid looking in the mirror? Do you feel helpless and hopeless? Do you self loathe and compare yourself to others? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, know that there is hope!

Many clinics use ketamine for temporary mood improvement, often with dilution or sedation to lower the dissociative effect. In contrast, KAP is a comprehensive therapeutic approach using ketamine as a psychedelic to treat underlying roots of depression, and some other disorders. It reveals symptoms as coping mechanisms that can be peeled back, in reverse order, to heal core wounds. This is deep ego work, but unlike psychedelic use with vague expectations and outcomes, KAP simplifies a lifetime of issues into one framework and intention for foundational change. It's often hard work, and may not be a good choice if you lack support.

It takes time to grow and evolution as a person is achieved in stages. Progress through these stages can be impeded or prevented by mood disorders, physical illness, relationship problems, trauma histories, expectations, old beliefs, etc. As a therapist, it is an honor and privilege to assist others in finding their own solutions to these obstacles to growth.

It takes wisdom and courage to reach out for help when times are tough. As a counselor, I appreciate being able to work with clients during these tough moments, helping to find light in the darkness. Together we can use that light to illuminate the hidden parts of yourself, making room for more authenticity in your life, and to identify the spaces where you’re ready to grow. My goal is to help you find strengths in your story, make meaning of your struggles, and discover a path forward and through those dark and difficult days.

I love my work and enjoy offering my clients a safe and supportive environment for them to grow and explore themselves. My style is both conversational and relational. I offer an authentic presence within a collaborative, lively relationship in which self-discovery can be non-threatening and perhaps, even fun. I am committed to sharing everything I know which I believe will help heal the difficulties in one's life. I am inspired each day by the courage clients have each moment they show up for therapy. I became a therapist because, to me, the value in life comes when you return to your value within.

My goal, as a clinical counselor, is to help people see their potential and help them identify ways to reach that potential. I specialize in an array of clients and look forward to finding individualized paths to help lead people to a more fulfilled life.

Many struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma or relational issues at some point. When our relationships suffer, so do we. We start to feel lonely, angry, ineffective, we shut down, lash out, freeze, or hide our true selves – and all of this impacts our life day after day. Working professionally over many years, I have developed a passion for addressing mental health and self-worth by exploring the histories of attachment and childhood trauma many Kentuckians experience. These initial relationships set the stages that lead to cyclical behavior and overall mood issues.

How can I find a therapist in 40509?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
