I am working only by telehealth. I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS UNTIL September 1, 2021. I recognize that going to counseling can be intimidating, and it is also an important first step in making life changes that you can't seem to make on your own. Are disappointment and hurts a regular part of your life? If you have difficulty standing up for yourself, or if you are waiting for your life to happen, then I encourage you to call. I have 30 years of experience with couples, co-occurring disorders, and EMDR experience. I feel honored that my clients have chosen to walk this life journey with me and welcome your call.

"I get it." Those are three words I needed to hear when I met with a counselor the first time. I can promise you that when we meet, if I don't "get it", we won't try to just make it work. Your time, money, and well-being are all too important for us to just wait and see if we can figure out how to make a good and helpful connection.

Finding the right therapist is extremely important. The strength of client-therapist bond privides the positive and accepting atmosphere in which issues of mind/spirit/body may be addressed. By exploring and addressing the roots of current problems, resolution and healing can be manifested in the client's life. My focus for each client is to maximize their potential. I take a conversational-collaborative and eclectic approach as I work with clients with various issues. My clients set goals and leave therapy with the skills they need. Sessions usually occur weekly in an effort to maintain a constructive intensity toward self-awareness and restoration.

Many individuals struggle with anxiety, depression, panic, and struggle to process trauma. When adjusting to these changing life situations finding healthy coping solutions can be challenging. What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in Kentucky are psychologists, licensed counselors, therapists, psychotherapists, and licensed clinical social workers, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualized treatment.

Services offered, education and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in Kentucky then may specialize in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counseling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.

How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in Kentucky, or Child Psychologists in Kentucky.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like Kentucky psychologists specializing in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in Kentucky specialize in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Many therapists accept health insurance. Check to see if your insurance is covered. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the therapist.
