My approach is informed by relational, narrative, attachment, feminist, and psychodynamic theories.
I view psychotherapy as a collaborative experience between therapist and patient. I see my role as that of a space holder and guide. I will shed light on and explore what may be causing difficulty in your life, provide affirmation, and offer tools that will help sustain your therapeutic goals. I believe that transformation and change can evolve through collaboration and the development of a renewed narrative that is validating and hopeful.

I utilize an integrative psychodynamic approach influenced by relational & feminist principles.
I believe that all people are deserving of love & healing. All too often life does what life does and we lose sense of our self, our worth, & our belonging. Choosing to pursue therapy is a radical act of self love & a gift towards enriching your life, deepening your understanding of self, & improving your relationships. Congratulations on taking this courageous first step on a journey towards your most authentic self & more satisfying life.

Kudos for taking this first step toward starting your therapeutic journey. Choosing a therapist is a very personal and can sometimes be a confusing process. I recognize that finding a therapist that is a good fit for your needs is important but not always easy! In my practice, I believe that establishing a genuine and collaborative relationship is vital. I work to establish a safe, judgement-free environment where you feel heard. I utilize an integrative approach drawing from internal family systems, psychodynamic, EMDR, feminist, and strengths-based practices, tailoring to and honoring the unique needs of each client.

Therapy is a commitment to self-care. In most areas of life, success or satisfaction often hinge on how effectively we understand and care for ourselves. I support those willing to lean into that inner work. This involves exploring obstacles preventing you from moving forward, in whatever realm. Therapy also helps improve self-compassion, which provides one with greater agency over life, and its challenges. Effective treatment strengthens self-awareness, and the ability to cope and adapt to the unexpected, or factors beyond your control - all key to decreasing suffering, improving efficacy, and enhancing self-worth and connection.

You might be asking, "How do I restore balance in my life?" In the complex dance of relationships, maintaining harmony can sometimes feel like an insurmountable challenge. Particularly in intimate relationships or within the family unit, it’s not uncommon to feel disconnected, despite your best efforts. Rekindling love, intimacy, and warmth in these relationships is within reach.

I’m glad you’ve taken this important first step. My role is to offer you a warm and non-judgmental space to process life’s complexities and create meaningful change.

For Gay, Bi, Queer Men, unresolved pain and unnamed hunger create severe ruptures in our here and now. Disruptive mood patterns and compulsions are signs of emotional injury that deserve a space to be held and cared for. Without language, we use our bodies and relationships to resolve the unresolved. Therapy is a place for this work and can be where the mind, body, & spirit become a family again. I support folx through a healing and relational framework to reconnect with values, hoping to take committed action towards goals and wishes. My work is focused on supporting gay, bi, and queer men to find integration

Choosing to deepen your self-awareness and embrace self acceptance can be overwhelming from the outside. Asking for support is a sign of strength and should be treated as such. You deserve to reclaim your life over challenges that seem to rule your existence. In therapy, we can work together to get you back to feeling energized by life and excited to unearth new possibilities and connections. I offer you space to speak freely without fear of judgment. As a LGBTQ+ therapist and ally to the BIPOC community, I am committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for individuals from all walks of life.

Developing a relationship with a compassionate, skilled therapist who can help you be present with current life stressors or past traumas, can be an important part of healing. In my practice I work with adults and adolescents with a variety of issues but specialize in issues related to sexual trauma (childhood or adult), childhood emotional/physical abuse, domestic violence, lack of parental attunement, and growing up in a home where alcohol and drugs were abused. I also work with couples who are experiencing challenges in communication, connection and how past trauma effects this. I provide clinical supervision to therapists.

Struggling in your marriage or relationship? Are you in need of couples or marriage counseling due to issues like infidelity or crossed boundaries? Relationships are challenging, especially when conflict is avoided, leading to built-up emotions and explosive moments. High emotions result in defensive walls, hindering problem-solving. If recurring problems leave you feeling stuck, let’s work together to break the cycle and foster healthier communication in your relationship.

Life comes with its challenges, and in a world where there can at times seem to be a collective sense of pain, I view therapy as a journey that provides us with the opportunity to become more in tune with ourselves. In doing so, we develop new ways to prevail and thrive. Being a queer person of color, I have dedicated my time in the field to supporting those who have lived similar experiences to my own. In sessions, I seek to create a trusting relationship that highlights your strengths.

Maybe you're tired of showing up for others in the hopes that they'll show up for you, but they don't reciprocate and you're left feeling drained. You may desire community but the thought of "what if everyone actually hates me?" keeps you lonely and anxious. You might be noticing some shifting in your desires for relationships or sexuality and you're feeling confused and scared. You might even want to cry or hide when thinking about bringing up hard conversations with loved ones about what you truly need. Regardless, you know you want support from an experienced and warm professional who understands that change is hard but worth it.

I remember my own experience meeting my new therapist. I was anxious to talk to a new person. I did not know if I would make sense. I did not want to feel judged. I remember feeling lost and hopeless. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to change the bad feelings and I resisted to believe that there was something wrong with me. I wanted someone who could guide me to understand my world and myself. I wanted a safe space. I needed to find someone who could collaborate with me in changing and resisting. I did not want a therapist who treated me as a study object. I just wanted to feel fully human.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
